(Minghui.org) I would like to share what happened to me about three years ago. Almost everyone in my village had heard that I was dying. A few months later, a local man saw me walking on the street. He stumbled backward and exclaimed, “People said you died! How are you here?”
I smiled and told him my story.
I am now 69 and live in a rural village. A friend of mine had told me about Falun Dafa in 1998 and said that as one practices, one’s entire family benefits. Thinking it might help my husband’s poor health if I practiced Dafa, I decided to learn the exercises. The next day, an epidermal cyst on the back of my neck miraculously disappeared. On the fourth day, I threw away all the things I used to worship in my house.
Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, helped to clean out the environment in my home, and my husband’s health improved quickly. We both became free of illness and were very grateful to Master Li.
About three years ago, I had become so busy with temporary jobs to make money that I had not studied the Falun Dafa teachings or done the exercises for over a year. I also killed animals to eat. According to Zhuan Falun, the main teaching of Falun Dafa, practitioners should not kill. My health began to deteriorate.
My family took me to the county hospital where a doctor concluded I had lobar pneumonia. We had no money to pay for treatment, so I returned home. Four days later, I began to cough incessantly. My daughter and son-in-law took me to a better hospital, where I was diagnosed with lung cancer. “She won’t live long, probably one or two months at the most,” the doctor told my family. “You need to be prepared.”
I returned to the county hospital, and my condition continued to deteriorate.
Several practitioners heard about my situation and came to visit me and share their thoughts. “Since the doctors have already given up, I think the only hope is Falun Dafa,” one of them said. I agreed and returned home.
Local practitioners set up a schedule to take turns to stay with me. Seven days a week, two people would share a shift. They read the Falun Dafa teachings to me and helped me with the exercises. Some of them had to take buses and travel dozens of miles. They also helped clean my home and helped me improve as a Falun Dafa practitioner. I was so thankful.
Four weeks passed with little progress. By the fifth week, someone said my forehead wrinkles were gone (this is considered a sign of impending death), so my family prepared a coffin and shroud for me. They even organized the yard to make more space for the funeral. Several other elderly residents in the village were also on the verge of death, so people in the backyard speculated about the order in which these deaths would occur. Someone said I would probably be first.
But fellow practitioners did not abandon me. They kept encouraging me and helped me to understand the principles of Falun Dafa more deeply. They also sent forth righteous thoughts frequently. I was unable to eat or drink anything for six days but moved by practitioners’ sincerity and selflessness, I forced myself to finish a bag of milk. I did not vomit. A practitioner then asked my daughter-in-law to prepare some millet porridge. I shook my head, thinking that it would be too much for me, but their words were so touching that I was in tears. I pulled myself together, picked up the bowl, and finished two bowls of millet porridge. I was sweating at the time, and droplets of my sweat and tears fell into the bowl.
People who saw this were impressed. “It’s hard to believe that someone could still eat after their forehead wrinkles have disappeared, let alone two bowls,” an elderly lady commented. “No wonder Dafa practitioners are so determined—it is extraordinary!”
I had to drink constantly because of my coughing, and there were empty bottles all over my bed. Later on, I could sit up to do the sitting meditation (the fifth exercise of Falun Dafa). As soon as I was able to stand a bit, I began to do the standing exercises. The movements were not accurate since I was half sitting and half standing, but I did not care much at the time—after all, I was so happy to be able to practice again!
Three days later, I was able to stand fully and started to accompany practitioners to the door as they left. After three and half months, I could ride a motorbike and carry another practitioner to the farmers’ market to talk to people about Falun Dafa.
Three years have passed, and I have been very healthy. I am so grateful to Master Li for giving me a second life, and I am so thankful to my fellow practitioners for their support.
