“How Can There Be Such Good People in This World?”

(Minghui.org) I have been practicing Falun Dafa for over twenty years and was quite ill for more than eight years before taking up the practice. The doctors said that my illnesses could not be cured. My family had used up all our savings to pay for my medical bills.

When I came across Falun Dafa, I was at a low point in my life. My illnesses vanished within months after I began to study the Fa and practice the exercises. When I returned to work my colleagues, classmates, friends and family were surprised at the amazing power of Dafa.

When my place of employment had financial difficulties, I was laid off. I found temporary employment at a small stand that sold drinks. The stand was in front of a large shopping mall, so business was good. Our customers purchased mineral water, soft drinks, ice cream, and cigarettes from us. During the winter, we also served hot drinks, tea and fruit juice.

My boss, a 70-year-old lady, was picky about the standards at her stall. She demanded the best from us and often scolded us over any minor infraction. She was initially hesitant to let me tell the customers about Falun Dafa, but became convinced of the goodness of Dafa after I told her my personal experiences.

I worked hard, and often volunteered to do extra chores, such as fetching water from the mall and restocking the fridge between customers. When the boss was not present, other employees helped themselves to drinks, ice cream, even cash from our earnings. They would slack off and talk on the phone, while I refused to participate in anything dishonest. My boss noticed my good work ethics. I would hear her talking to family and friends, “Those who practice Falun Dafa are truly good people. I feel confident leaving my business in her hands.” Thereafter, she turned a blind eye whenever I talked to customers about Falun Dafa.

I once mistakenly gave a customer change for a hundred yuan, when he had only given me fifty yuan. When I realized my error, I told my boss about it and offered to pay the difference. She was so impressed and said, "How can there be such a good person? Nobody would have found out if you had kept quiet.” I replied, “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and I adhere to the standards of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” I tried to give her 50 yuan, but she refused to accept the money. Then, she told me that this was the first time she has known a truly good person.

Sometime later, two practitioners decided to start a wholesale business and asked me to join their company. They offered me better wages and working hours than my current job at the drink stand. I was seriously tempted by the offer. Then, I realized with summer so close my boss would have difficulty finding and training a replacement for me so quickly. I remembered the Fa teaching on always thinking of others first. I decided to turn down the wholesale business job.
