Additional Persecution News from China – April 29, 2017 (19 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 25 were illegally arrested.

1. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Guizhi Detained

Ms. Li Guizhi was arrested by the director and other officers from the Tai'an Township Police Station on the morning of April 18, 2017. She was detained for five days.

2. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Three Practitioners Sentenced

Three practitioners were recently tried in the Yongning County Court. Ms. Jiang Tao and Ms. Su Qingling were each given two-year prison terms. Both have appealed. Ms. Cao Guilan was sentenced to a year and a half in prison.

3. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhi Fucui Taken Into Custody

Ms. Zhi Fucui from Huashishanzi Village, Shuanghou Town, was arrested on April 26, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong materials at a farmers market. She was held in a local police station.

4. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Gong Jiankui and Ms. Yang Arrested

Mr. Gong Jiankui from Chijia Village in the Huanglou Neighborhood was recently arrested. Ms. Yang from Fenghuangdian Village was also arrested.

5. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Pang Xiaohong, Ms. Yang Jinmei, and Ms. Cai Qing from Niutouya Town were arrested by officers from the Niutouya Town Police Station and the Qinhuangdao SWAT Team on the morning of April 27, 2017. They were held in the Qinhuangdao City No. 2 Detention Center for 15 days.

6. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Junling Detained

Ms. Li Junling was arrested by plainclothes officers from the Masen Township Police Station on the morning of April 18, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Datun farmers market. After paying a 500-yuan fine, she was released on April 23.

7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Jiayu Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Chen Jiayu from the Qiaokou District was arrested by Gutian Police Station officers on April 24, 2017. They confiscated a printer, a computer, a DVD burner, a binding machine, Falun Gong books, about 10,000 yuan in cash, and paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. She is being held in the Etouwan Brainwashing Center.

8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Huang Xinpu Arrested

Mr. Huang Xinpu from the Huangpi District was recently arrested.

9. [Tianjin] Ms. Huang Huixiang Given a Seven-Year Prison Term

Ms. Huang Huixiang was sentenced to seven years in prison on April 28, 2017.

10. [Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Guixiang Taken to Prison

Ms. Wang Guixiang was given a one-and-a-half-year prison term. She was transferred from the Yingkou Detention Center to the Liaoning Women's Prison on February 14, 2017.

11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Guo Min Detained

Ms. Guo Min, 68, from the Nangang District was arrested on April 27, 2017, by officers from the Renli Street Police Station in the Daowai District for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Heilongjiang No. 2 Detention Center.

12. [Huili County, Sichuan Province] Five Practitioners Appeal, Hearing Postponed

Five elderly woman sentenced for their faith have filed appeals. The Liangshan Intermediate Court was scheduled to hold a hearing on April 19, 2017. However, they postponed the hearing that morning and did not announce a new date.

The five women were arrested on January 30, 2016, for distributing Falun Gong materials. They were sentenced to prison on December 29, with Ms. Ma Lingxian given one year and four months; Ms. Shen Jiafeng, one year in prison with one year probation; and Ms. Luo Jiping, Ms. Dong Xiuqiong, and Ms. Zheng Qiong, one year each.

13. [An County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liao Guanghui Detained; Ms. Luo Mianjin Arrested and Released.

Ms. Liao Guanghui and Ms. Luo Mianjin were arrested on April 20, 2017, while trying to mail out letters containing information about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

They were taken to the local Jiepai Police Station, where they were searched and interrogated separately.

Ms. Luo, 81, was released that night; Ms. Liao was given a ten-day detention.

14. [Lin'an City, Zhejiang Province] Three Practitioners Tried; Another Detained

Three locals were tried on April 24, 2017, for distributing information about Falun Gong. The judge announced he would issue a verdict within 15 days.

Mr. Wu Yumin, 70; Mr. Jiao Luojun; and Ms. Pan Yiou were all arrested in September 2016. The local authorities arrested another practitioner, Mr. Xi Chongli, on January 14, 2017. According to insiders, Mr. Xi's arrest was related to the other three practitioners' cases.

All four practitioners remain in the Lin'an City Detention Center.

15. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Xiang Zhiping Detained

Mr. Xiang Zhiping, a teacher from Tieren Middle School, was arrested on April 27, 2017, and given a seven-day detention.

The police targeted him because he filed a criminal complaint in August 2015 against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for ordering the persecution of Falun Gong.

Mr. Xiang, 52, credited Falun Gong for curing his heart disease and giving him his life back. He stopped practicing Falun Gong after Jiang launched the campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999. He went back to his unhealthy lifestyle and suffered a heart attack in April 2015. However, he kept reciting "Falun Dafa is good" and survived. This health scare made him realize that there was nothing wrong with practicing Falun Gong and that the persecution was unjust.

He resumed practicing Falun Gong and mailed out his criminal complaint against Jiang months later. But the police retaliated by arresting him this April.

16. [Pingdingshan, Henan Province] Mr. Jiang Junfeng Transferred to Prison

Mr. Jiang Junfeng was arrested on November 25, 2015, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. He was tried on May 17, 2016, and sentenced to 5 years in prison on August 31. He appealed to Pingdingshan Intermediate Court, but the higher court ruled to uphold the original verdict without any further investigation or holding a hearing.

Mr. Jiang was then transferred to a prison in Xinmi City.

17. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Shiying and Her Son and Daughter Arrested

Ms. Sun Shiying, her son Mr. Wang Hongyan, and her daughter Ms. Wang Hongyan, all Falun Gong practitioners, were arrested on March 6, 2017, for providing refuge to another practitioner just released from prison.

The local Procuratorate issued a formal arrest warrant for the three family members on April 13. Their lawyer visited the Procuratorate on April 28 and submitted a request to dismiss th warrant. The lawyer next went to the two local police stations requesting the unconditional release of his clients, but he was given the runaround.

18. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Liu Qingyang Tried for the Third Time

Mr. Liu Qingyang was arrested in December 2015 and has been held in Shawan Detention Center in Panyu. He was tried on the afternoon of April 17, 2017, for the third time in Panyu Court. The trial lasted less than 30 minutes. There is no information about the verdict.

19. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liang Baofan Deprived of Visitation Rights

Mr. Liang Baofan’s wife, daughter, and aunt went to Gongzhuling Prison to visit him on April 19, 2017. They have not seen him for almost two years. The prison authorities still will not allow them to visit Mr. Liang.

Earlier this year, Mr. Liang’s family went to the prison and asked to visit him on January 18. The prison refused to allow them in.
