(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Luo Jun and Ms. He Dongmei, from Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, were tried by the Bazhou District Court, Bazhou City, Sichuan Province on April 28. 2017. Ms. Luo's attorney and Ms. He's husband defended their innocence during the court hearing.
In court, the prosecutor and defendants debated whether Falun Gong was a cult. The defendants pointed out Falun Gong teaches people to be good, and is not a cult, while the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the real cult. Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime, used the CCP and its youth organizations to undermine law enforcement and persecute good people, in the name of the law.
The judge did not request cross-examination. Instead, he helped the prosecutor defame Falun Gong. The defense attorney and his clients were interrupted multiple times. The judge attempted to force the two innocent defendants to plead guilty.
In response to the judge’s prejudice and the abnormal relationship between judge and prosecutor, the attorney requested that they recuse themselves.
After the dispute between the two sides failed, the president of the court was called upon to mediate. The case will be retried on May 15, with a different judge.
