Additional Persecution News from China – December 16, 2017 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 11 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 4 were illegally arrested.

1. [Beijing] Mr. Hao Fengchun and Wife Ms. Li Guizhen Released on Bail

Ms. Li Guizhen from Shunyi District was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. Four or five officers from the Nancai Police Station broke into her home and arrested her and her husband, Mr. Hao Fengchun, on November 6, 2017. The officers ransacked their home. The couple was taken to the Nihe Detention Center for criminal detention the following evening. They were released on bail on December 7.

2. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Dong Zuozhen Taken to Prison

Ms. Dong Zuozhen was tried on July 18, 2017. She was on an IV even in the courtroom. She spent seven days in the Songyuan Oilfield Mining Hospital. She was diagnosed by the Jilin University Hospital with bile duct stones. The court told her in the courtroom that she would be sentenced to probation if she paid tens of thousands of yuan. She refused to pay and was given a three-year-and-four-month prison term. She was taken to Jilin Women's Prison on December 14, 2017.

3. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yu Xiuhai Detained

Officers from the Hetoudian Police Station broke into Mr. Yu Xiuhai's home in Xiaoheyuan Village on the morning of December 13, 2017. Mr. Yu was arrested and taken to the police station. He is held in the Laixi Detention Center.

One month ago, the officers went to the homes of Mr. Yu and his elder brother. They confiscated photos of and books written by the founder of Falun Gong. Mr. Yu was not home at the time. The officers arrested his non-practitioner wife and his brother. His wife was released that evening. His brother was detained for 15 days.

4. [Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Yu Rongxin and Wife Ms. Xie Qing Detained

Mr. Yu Rongxin was arrested on September 18, 2017. His wife, Ms. Xie Qing, was arrested around September 21. Both are held in the Jiangmen Detention Center.

5. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Sun Yulan Given a Two-Year Prison Term

Ms. Sun Yulan was sentenced to two years in prison by the Fengnan District Court in November 2017.

6. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Cao Fengying and Son Mr. Yang Bin Detained

Ms. Cao Fengying and her son, Mr. Yang Bin, from the Laowanquancheng area, were arrested by the Shunyi District police in Beijing on November 27, 2017. They are held in the Nihe Detention Center.

7. [Weichang County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Haiqin Detained

Ms. Wang Haiqin was arrested by Li Hu and other officers from the Datoushan Police Station on December 10, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Datoushan farmers market. She has since been held in the Weichang County Detention Center. One of her family members went to the Weichang County Police Department to demand her release the following day. The Domestic Security officers refused to release her and ransacked her home instead.

8. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yue Sheguo Given a One-Year Prison Term

Mr. Yue Sheguo was recently sentenced to a one-year prison term by Yongnian District Court. He has been taken to Jidong Prison.

9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Lei Yanxia Placed In Administrative Detention

Several practitioners were arrested in Zhongshan Park on December 9, 2017. The elderly Ms. Duan was released. Ms. Lei Yanxia, 64, was placed in administrative detention for 15 days at the Erzhigou No. 1 Administrative Detention Center in Dongxihu District.

10. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Ma Minghai on Hunger Strike

Mr. Ma Minghai was arrested on May 10, 2016. He and his elder sister, Ms. Ma Jie, were sentenced to four years in prison on December 13, 2016. Mr. Ma is still held in the Qindu District Detention Center. He started a hunger strike in December 2017.
