Mr. Feng Xingji Deprived of Visitation Rights for Appealing His Sentence

(Minghui.org) Mr. Feng Xingji, a material analyst from Shanghai, was illegally sentenced to four years in prison in November 2011 for putting up Falun Gong informational posters. He has been imprisoned at the 10th Prison District, Tilanqiao Prison, since February 2012. He was in a confinement cell for more than two months in 2013, because he appealed to upper level officials over the prison sentence. He was deprived of family visitation.

Mr. Feng's family complained to the prison administration bureau and the justice department, as they were deprived of their visitation rights at the end of 2013. However no response was forthcoming. The family asked Warden Fan to see Mr. Feng. But, Fan demanded that Mr. Feng write a guarantee statement that he would give up Falun Gong.

Mr. Feng's family appealed to the prison administration bureau again in April 2014. They received no response. They then appealed to the justice department again. The appeals office claimed that this was the responsibility of the prison administration bureau.

They called the prison and Warden Fan a few times. The prison ignored the calls, claiming that it was not their responsibility or rejected the request. They claimed that any visit would affect the transformation of Mr. Feng.

Next, they appealed to the Inspection Team in September 2014. The prison district demanded that Mr. Feng stop his appeals or no visitation.

Lastly, they went to the Tilanqiao Prison to request visits in February 2015. The prison district warden and education section demanded that Mr. Feng write the guarantee statement. Prison officials claimed that this was based on internal rules after the family warned them of the illegality of their actions.

Mr. Feng, 32, graduated from the Material Engineering School in Central South University and started to work at the Sanyi Institute of Materials in March 2008. He was arrested on June 29, 2011 by Lu Xiaojun and others from the Pudong 610 Office.
