Oct. 15

• Ms. Wang Yuhuan Tortured to Death Following Massive May 9 Arrest in Changchun

Ms. Wang Yuhuan from Changchun City, Jilin Province was arrested along with many fellow Falun Gong practitioners on May 9, 2007. She was persecuted to death on September 24, however, her family was informed her death two week later. Wang Yuhuan was in her 60s. She was arrested a dozen times and was brutally tortured by the Changchun police over the past eight years. She was beaten, tortured on Tiger Bench, shocked with Electric Batons, and she was once stripped naked and tied to wooden boards with arms and legs spread out for 2 days, during which male guards and inmates humiliated and insulted her.

• Recent Persecution of Practitioners in Hengyang County, Hunan Province

Recently, many Falun Gong practitioners in Hengyang County, Hunan Province, were arrested and their homes were ransacked. The police confiscated their personal belongings and coerced money from their families.

• The Persecution of Practitioner Ms. Zhang Shengrong Over the Past Eight Years

Ms. Zhang Shengrong, in her 60s, is a retiree from the surveying and mapping team. Because of practicing Falun Gong, she suffered brutal persecution over the past eight years. She, together with many other fellow practitioners, were arrested, detained and interogated many times.

• Mr. Deng Wenyang Tortured to Death in Hebei Province in September 2007

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Deng Wenyang lived in Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. Since the start of the persecution in 1999 he has been arrested and detained at a forced labor camp multiple times. On September 26, 2007, he was arrested again, and he died from mistreatment ten days after being detained in the Gaoyang Labor Camp.

• Eight Years of Persecution for Falun Gong Practitioner Yang Hong and her Family

Yang Hong overcame poor health when she began the practice of Falun Gong. Her family also benefitted from the practice, but then her family was torn apart by the persecution. The story of Ms. Yang Hong's long imprisonment and torture shows the difficulty practitioners face in trying to communicate their situation to either Chinese or international authorities.

• Mr. Wang Hongfa Again Sentenced to a Forced Labor Camp

• Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Cao Hongyan Tortured to Death in Jilin Prison

Mr. Cao Hongyan, a Falun Gong practitioner who was illegally sentenced to eight years imprisonment, lost consciousness from being totured in Jilin Prison on October 8, 2007. His family members saw that he was intubated in the hospital. He died in the morning on October 9, 2007.
