Letter to Jin Zhenda, First Secretary of the Chinese embassy in Ottawa, Canada

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to appeal to your goodwill and kind heart. Jiang Zemin's horrific crimes have been exposed to the world, and the terrible persecution of my fellow Falun Gong practitioners in China will end soon. All those who participate in spreading the hate literature against Falun Gong, in telling Jiang's lies to the world, or have passively ignored the horror to protect their own self-interests will be tried by International Law and receive due punishment.

As such, I certainly hope that you can consider not only your immediate self-interest, but look at a larger picture involving your family's reputation and well-being: do you wish to be remembered as one who assisted the most evil persecution in recorded history? Do you want your family to have to hide their names and faces in shame, because you were reluctant to distinguish good from evil at the crucial moment?

You were recently quoted as saying that "They [Falun Gong] are responsible for a lot of propaganda and rumours.", and that with regard to the current severe persecution, "no torture, no persecution at all." (though these barbarities have been documented by third-party human rights groups and publicly denounced by federal governments worldwide).

These statements are so absurd that they completely invalidate anything else that you have said on this issue. People are not fools who believe whatever they are told: they can distinguish right from wrong, and use their wisdom to discern truth from outright lies. As such, be aware that Jiang's lies are no longer fooling anyone, least of all the Canadian government and general public.

To continue to act in this manner as the representative of a great country with rich history and culture is simply shameful, the greatest shame of all.

I believe that you still have the chance to raise yourself up, to resist being used as the tool of a very evil person, and to tell people the truth about Falun Gong. If you yourself actually believe Jiang Zemin's propaganda, then I strongly urge you to find out the truth about Falun Gong. There are many practitioners in Ottawa, all activities are open to anyone, and you have the opportunity to do so. If, on the other hand, you know that Falun Gong is not bad, and yet continue to spread the slanderous lies, then I sincerely pity you, for you are ruining not only your own future, but that of your family as well.

I trust you will weigh these matters carefully and make the right choices.
