Every December, there are three human rights related "commemoration days" or a "commemoration week" in the United States. Human Rights Week this year is December 10-16 while Human Rights Day is December 10, both, which commemorate the adoption of the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" by the United Nations in 1948. The commemoration day for the Bill of Human Rights is December 15, on which the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution was passed in 1791.
At this period of time each year, many human rights organizations, together with government branches, organize various commemorative activities. These are good opportunities to introduce Falun Gong to U.S. governments, organizations, and people of various circles and to tell the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
Today we attended the Fifth "International Human Rights Awards" ceremony and dinner party organized by the Human Rights Coalition of North Carolina. The photos recording the cruel torture of Falun Gong practitioners were displayed in the conference hall. The booklet "Falun Gong: the Peaceful Journey" was given to more than 70 human rights activists who attended the meeting. When we mentioned that Falun Gong practitioners were cruelly persecuted just because of their belief in "Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance", all the attendees expressed their bewilderment, indignation, and disgust toward the evil forces represented by Jiang Zemin.
From this activity, we learned that we should try our best to participate in these types of activities. Government officials attend many of these activities and we can spread the Fa (Law and principles) to them and tell them the truth facts about the crackdown against Falun Gong. We found human rights activists to be a group of kindhearted people, who sacrifice their time and energy for the rights and benefits of others. They are very experienced in human rights activities, so we can learn many effective methods from them to let more people know the true facts about Falun Gong. Furthermore, they know many people and organizations that care about human rights. With their help, we can introduce Falun Gong to more people and organizations to make our efforts in revealing the true facts deeper and more widespread. These people and organizations can relay their support of Falun Gong to the U.S. Congress and government, which will gain support of more congressmen, senators and government officials. The righteous forces will be strengthened, while the evil forces will become more afraid.
After this event, we will participate in some other commemorative activities. The governor and chief judges will attend some of these activities.
To learn more about the various activities organized by states and cities, you can contact the Human Rights Coalition in your state and Amnesty International, which usually has branches or clubs at many universities. This coming week (December 10-16) is Human Rights Week and various activities are taking place. These opportunities are too good to be missed.
