Belated News: 60-Year-Old Hubei Woman Sentenced to Two Years for Practicing Falun Gong

April 26, 2025 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Wu Guiju, 60, from Wuhan City, Hubei Province, is currently serving a two-year term at the Wuhan City Women’s Prison for practicing Falun Gong, Minghui.org recently learned.

Ms. Wu was arrested at her home on April 26, 2024, by officers from the Qingling Street Police Station. She was taken to the Wuhan City First Detention Center and sentenced to two years later that year. Details of her indictment, trial, or sentencing remain unknown. It is also unclear when she was admitted to prison.

Ms. Wu’s latest persecution was preceded by an arrest on March 20, 2019. The community security guard and the local police knocked on her door earlier that evening, with the excuse that the way she charged her electric bike in the hallway of her apartment building was not safe. Since she was not home, they returned around 8 p.m. and arrested her. All her Falun Gong books, the portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, and her computer were confiscated.

After nearly one year of detention at the Wuhan City First Detention Center, Ms. Wu was indicted by the Hanyang District Procuratorate in early 2020. Her case was then forwarded to the Hanyang District Court. But details about her trial and verdict aren’t clear.
