Several officers from the Jihong Police Station and Tiexi District Domestic Security Division went to Ms. Li Xiupei’s home on the morning of September 1, 2024. Ms. Li, around 60, was not at home. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. They took Ms. Li’s daughter and two elder sisters, who don’t practice Falun Gong, to the police station.
When Ms. Li returned in the afternoon, she called her daughter and found out about her and her two aunts’ arrests. The police then released the trio and arrested Ms. Li. They interrogated her and said they had been monitoring her daily activities for three years. They intended to detain her for 30 days, but later reversed the decision and put her on house arrest.
Ms. Zhu Ying was arrested by officers in Xinglong County of Chengde City on June 4, 2024 and has been held in the Chengde City Detention Center since. Just when Ms. Wang Shufan was about to travel to Beijing on July 11, 2024, officer Li Jiaxuan from Dongjuzi Police Station and Liu Fang, director of Shengchang Community, showed up at her home and stopped her. They claimed that the annual plenary sessions of the National People’s Congress and of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference were taking place in Beijing and even if she arrived in Beijing, she wouldn’t be allowed to leave the train station.
Ms. Wang travelled to Jiaohe City in the same Jilin Province days later. When she returned on July 23, 2024, the police searched her purse, cellphone, and wallet at the Jiaohe Railway Station. They let her go when they didn’t find any Falun Gong related items.
An officer from the Jilin City Police Department called Ms. Wang on the morning of July 29 and demanded to search her place. She asked for his name and police badge ID. He refused to answer and only said his family is Yuan.
