Du Luo is a young practitioner in Guilin City, who started to practice Falun Gong in 2017 after reading free information about it on the internet. Du used ExpressVPN to browse Minghui.org in November 2021, which led the police to obtain personal information about him or her. Not long after, the higher-up ordered the local 610 Office agents and police to search Du’s place. Du was taken to the police station for interrogation and the police examined Du’s cellphone. With the excuse that Du sent a message to the police three months ago, urging them not to persecute Falun Gong, the police detained him or her for five days, with the charge of “undermining social order with a cult organization.”
After Du was released, the local police, residential committee staff members, and agents from the Political and Legal Affairs Committee kept harassing Du and ordered him or her to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. They also demanded that Du report to the police when traveling out of town or leaving the country.
Du recently found a surveillance camera installed at the entrance of his or her apartment building. Du suspected the police installed it to monitor his or her daily life, who had said that Du is now their key surveillance target.
