(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Xu Jinfeng from Chiping District was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Dong’e County Court on January 10, 2024, and fined 10,000 yuan. Ms. Xu’s appeal case was sent to the Liaocheng Intermediate Court.
Mr. Qu Xiaofei, Ms. Qu Dan, Ms. Song Dianhong, Ms. Liu Xiaoyan, Ms. Sun Xiaona, Ms. Zhang Xuejie, Ms. Luo Xizhen, Xu, Ms. Zhou Hong, Ms. Meng Ying, and Ms. Meng’s daughter, eleven practitioners from the Dongchang District, were arrested by officers from the Dongchang District Police Department on March 1, 2024.
Ms. Qu, Ms. Song, and Ms. Meng’s daughter returned home. The other practitioners were held in the Changliu Detention Center.
Mr. Qu has been on a hunger strike in protest since he was taken to the Changliu Detention Center on March 1, 2024. Ms. Song was taken to the Xishan Brainwashing Center in Tonghua City on March 1 and returned home on March 8.
Ms. Cheng Shumei and Ms. Ge from Liuhe County were arrested on March 1, and their homes were ransacked and belongings confiscated. On March 2, Ms. Xing Deqin from Liuhe County was also arrested. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong, among other items. Ms. Xing returned home that day. Ms. Cheng and Ms. Ge were held in the Changliu Detention Center.
The Xiamen City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict of the first instance against physician Mr. Li Jianxi without a trial on March 14, 2024. Mr. Li was taken to Fuqing Prison on March 22.
Song Xiaohua (gender unknown), 74, and Sun were reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of March 11, 2024, and were arrested by police. Sun was released, but Song was taken to the Yaziquan Detention Center. Song’s current situation is unknown.
Mr. Yang Xuegui was arrested on March 4, 2024, and his home was ransacked. He is currently being held in the Xiguoyuan Detention Center in Lanzhou City.
Ms. Sun Lizhen was arrested by officers from the Chaoyang District Police Department on the afternoon of March 15, 2024, when she was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Jilin University No. 1 Hospital. The officers ransacked her home at around 6 p.m. and confiscated a laptop computer and Falun Gong books. When her family members went to the police department to ask for her release, the police did not tell them where Ms. Sun was being held. They said she would be released in 15 days and told them to go home and wait.
Ms. Qian Ruixiang from Xinxin Residential Community in Huanggu District was followed to her home and arrested after she talked to people about Falun Gong on March 15, 2024. More than ten officers took Ms. Qian to the police station. During the physical examination, her blood pressure was as high as 240. She was later released.
The police confiscated a computer, a printer, and all of her Falun Gong books.
Ms. Yu Hongyan and Liu Feng (gender unknown) were placed under administrative detention for 15 days at the Shenyang City Detention Center on March 4, 2024. They returned home on March 18.
Ms. Wang Hongying was placed under criminal detention on March 4 and taken to the Shenyang City Detention Center. Due to high blood pressure of over 200 mmHg, and other symptoms, detention center officials were afraid to admit her. Ms. Wang returned home on March 8.
Ms. Huang Xingli was arrested and taken to the Heping Police Station in the High-tech Zone at 10 a.m. on March 7, 2024. At around 11 a.m. the police ransacked her home and confiscated her personal belongings. Ms. Huang was detained for 15 days and has now returned home.
Practitioner Zhang from Tengjia Town went to his or her son’s home to take care of a grandchild on February 25, 2024. Zhang was stopped at the Rongcheng High-speed Railway Station by urban railway patrol officers. Zhang’s luggage was searched and items related to Falun Gong were found. The police reported Zhang to the Rongcheng City Domestic Security Division, who prevented Zhang from boarding the train and ransacked his or her home. Zhang has returned home.
Four officers from the Hanmaying Town Police Station in Longhua County broke into Ms. Sun Yuping’s home in Wuliangsu Village. Ms. Sun, who was over 80 years old, was arrested, but was released half a day later. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and copies of the Minghui Weekly publication.
Ms. Ju, Ms. Yu, and a practitioner whose name is unknown, talked to people about Falun Gong and exchanged paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them at the Tengjia Market in Tengjia Town, Rongcheng City, on March 12, 2024. The police spotted and arrested them, and took them to the police station. The police confiscated Falun Gong materials and 10,000 yuan imprinted with information about Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked.
Ms. Cao Maoju, who is in her 60s, lives in Yongquan Towship, Chaisang District. Two officers came to her home on March 14, 2024 and forcibly collected blood samples from her. They did not tell her their names or show their IDs. The officers told Ms. Cao to sign paperwork and give her fingerprints, which she refused.
Ms. Cao previously went to visit Jian Guilin (gender unknown), but was arrested by police officers who went there to arrest Jian. The officers ransacked Ms. Cao’s home, and she was held in the Yongquan Township Police Station for one night. She could not write because she never went to school, so she was forced to fingerprint paperwork. She was released the next morning.
