(Minghui.org) I began practicing Falun Dafa in 2009, and I clarified the facts about the persecution by going to tourist sites. I also later made phone calls on the RTC platform, a website where Dafa practitioners call people in China to tell them about the persecution and encourage them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations. When I studied the Fa with other practitioners on the platform, we usually skipped reading the book The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection.
A practitioner showed me the exercises when I first began practicing, so I felt there was no need to read it. I attended a Fa-study group, but never read The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection. Thus, my exercise movements were not accurate, so I attended a nine-day Falun Dafa class for help.
Several practitioners who attended the class looked like they were getting old, had poor postures, were out of shape, or did not do the exercise movements correctly. They didn’t want to change even after the coordinators pointed out some issues. Some practitioners added other movements to the exercises, bent their hands while sending forth righteous thoughts, or didn’t realize the seriousness of cultivation. They improved after repeated reminders but they still seemed confused or didn’t realize they had fallen asleep. I thought my situation was better than theirs.
I met a practitioner when we clarified the facts at a tourist site, and he made several suggestions over the years. I knew he was trying to help me but I was still upset and didn’t listen to him. We met again recently and he said he was very worried about the way some practitioners did the exercises and their cultivation states.
He carefully adjusted the practitioners’ movements. I was touched. I noticed that he paid attention to the key points of the movements mentioned in The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection.
I went to the practice site he usually attends to do the morning exercises. When we discussed our experiences after we did the exercises, he told me that I should hold my hands higher when I did the second exercise because I held them in front of my head while they should be facing the top of my head. He also said that my spine was bent and I had a hunchback. The second day he said I fell asleep when I meditated. I was surprised by his comments, and I felt sad. It rained the third day, and it didn’t stop for the next four days, so I did the exercises at home and saved myself the trouble of hearing more from him.
The third day at home, I picked up the book The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection and was surprised by the book’s title. Great Perfection! Why did I just notice it now? I knew that I couldn’t improve my cultivation by merely adjusting my exercise movements. I should look within and adjust my xinxing. I discovered my resentment toward my family because I did more work than them. I eliminated the unbalanced thoughts that made me angry and depressed.
I fractured my right shoulder while riding my bike in the rain seven years ago on the way home after doing the exercises. I didn’t take any medicine or have surgery, and I recovered by doing the exercises. However, I could no longer raise my right hand to touch my face due to the restricted movement after the injury.
On the seventh day, I joined the group exercises. As usual, we exchanged our understanding of the Fa and discussed the key points of the exercise movements. The practitioner told me to hold my hands over my head when I did the second exercise. He kept telling me to raise my hands higher. I raised them three times until he said I raised them to the right height, and then I heard a “click.” After I put my right hand down, I could touch my face and raise my arm behind my head. When I turned my right hand, I heard a “click, click, click”. I felt the tendon adhesion on my right shoulder loosen, and the comminuted fracture injury from seven years ago was finally healed.
The next movement was to raise my hands to the sides of my head. The practitioner asked me to pull my neck back to straighten my hunched back. He pointed at my chin and instructed me to keep pulling back. I pulled back three times until I heard another “click.” He told me that my neck was now in the right place, above the spine.
All of the practitioners at the practice site did well and tried to do the exercise movements accurately. Everyone is clear-headed and talkd about their experiences. I will use the Fa to review and guide myself.
These are my understandings at my current level. Please kindly point out anything that is not appropriate.
