(Minghui.org) Ms. Xin Linyuan, 71, from Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, lost her appeal against a two-year prison sentence in September 2024 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Xin’s sentence stemmed from her initial arrest on May 15, 2022. The former accountant at the Ningguang Electrical Co., Ltd. was soon released on bail, only to be taken back into custody and sent to the Shizuishan City Detention Center on February 21, 2024. Shizuishan is also in Ningxia and borders Yinchuan.
The Dawukou District Court in Shizuishan City sentenced Ms. Xin to two years with a 10,000-yuan fine on July 4, 2024. The ruling bore the signatures of presiding judge Wang Yu, judges Liang Zongquan and Song Cuiping, clerk Zhou Haibin, and prosecutor Zhang Zhaowa of the Dawukou District Procuratorate.
The Shizuishan City Intermediate Court held a hearing of Ms. Xin’s appeal case on September 6, 2024. Her appeals lawyer and non-lawyer defender both argued that the trial court’s two-year sentence was based on fabricated evidence and should be overturned. The appeals court, however, ruled against her and her husband received an official copy of the verdict on September 24.
