(Minghui.org) It was recently learned that a 50-year-old resident of Beian City, Heilongjiang Province, was held in a psychiatric hospital for one month, not long after she completed a 1.5-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Ma Yingjie took up Falun Gong in February 2014, amidst the Chinese Communist Party’s ongoing persecution of the mind-body practice. Her husband, Mr. Ma Yitao, also became a Falun Gong practitioner later on. The couple not only regained health but also became better business owners. Their family-run mattress factory was known to be a trustworthy business with high quality products.
The couple was arrested on September 10, 2017 and convicted on December 28, 2018, with Mr. Ma given seven years with a 20,000-yuan fine and Ms. Ma to one and a half years with a 5,000-yuan fine. Their mini-van was seized as well. Their appeals were both rejected on May 14, 2019.
Ms. Ma was released on March 9, 2019, having completed her term. Her husband was admitted to the Hulan Prison to serve time.
Less than three months after Ms. Ma’s prison release, the police seized her at the end of May 2019 and took her to the Heilongjiang Province Psychiatric Hospital (also known as the Third Hospital). The attending physician was Hu Haiyan.
As Ms. Ma had no mental illness, she refused to cooperate with the “treatment” she was subjected to. The medical workers placed two electric needles on her temples to shock her. They also forbade her from screaming in pain and ordered her to recite some rules. She had to memorize each rule to a T or face punishment.
For about one week, Ms. Ma was tied to a bed and not allowed to eat or drink from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. the next morning every day. During this period, the medical staffers gave her the so-called hypnotherapy through anesthesia injections. They untied her after she regained consciousness, only to repeat the same abuse in the evening.
In addition, Ms. Ma was forced to take a large amount of psychiatric drugs every day. The nurses gave her injections from time to time too.
Ms. Ma was released in late June 2019. Through practicing Falun Gong, she gradually recovered from the toxic drugs’ damage to her central nervous system.
