(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 11 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Li Dongyin was arrested by Feng County Police Department officers who were following the orders from the Jintai District Procuratorate. She was taken to the Fufeng County Detention Center on October 20, 2023. She faces a trial and a prison term.
Ms. Li’s family hired a lawyer, who reviewed her case and submitted a not-guilty plea requesting that she not be prosecuted. The Jintai District Procuratorate decided to proceed.
Mr. Ding Qian was scheduled to be tried at 9:45 a.m. on October 25, 2023, in the Litong District Court in Wuzhong City.
Ms. Xiao Hua was arrested by Dongning City Police Department officers and held in the Mudanjiang City Detention Center. She was later officially placed under arrest by the Hailin City Court. Despite her consistent high blood pressure readings since her arrest, the authorities in charge handling her case refused to release her.
On October 9, 2023, Mudanjiang Detention Center officials called and told Ms. Xiao’s daughter, “Xiao Hua’s blood pressure readings are very high. Her family has to pay for her medical treatment.” Dongning City Domestic Security Division staff members called Ms. Xiao’s daughter several times to urge her to make the payment and promised that Ms. Xiao could go home after they received the money and completed a checkup.
On October 11, 2023, Ms. Xiao’s daughter, who was anxious to have her mother released, paid what the detention center had requested. Detention center employees took Ms. Xiao to the Mudanjiang Detention Center Ward on the 17th floor of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Mudanjiang Medical College to be treated.
Ms. Xiao’s daughter submitted an application for “Release on Bail Pending Trial” to the local Domestic Security Division, which requested Ms. Xiao’s hospital records. When Ms. Xiao’s daughter asked when her mother would be released, detention center officials said that she would have to pay another 3,500 yuan.
Ms. Feng Guichun, who works at the Linyi City Central Blood Station, has been held in custody for nearly two months. Her family members have searched for the officers handling her case but they have not been given any information.
In order to file required official reports, Domestic Security Division officers in two districts in Tianshui City went to practitioners’ homes to obtain recent photos and personal information.
In September 2023, the Xiguan Police Station in the Qinzhou District called several times to summon Ms. Liu Xiaohua to the police station for questioning. They took photos of her, then called her son in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, and asked to add him as a contact person on WeChat, a popular social media app, on the grounds that it was required as part of setting up Ms. Liu’s profile.
On September 19, Ms. Zhang Xiaomei from out-of-town was looking after her grandchild at her son’s in the Maiji District. She was harassed by four people from the Maiji District Domestic Security Division and the community management office who knocked on the door several times and then forced their way in. They asked Ms. Zhang what she’d been doing recently. They took four photos of her.
On September 20, Wu Lingwei from the Qinzhou District Domestic Security Division called Ms. Wang Lixia and said that he would put her under residential surveillance and asked her for a recent photo. Wu also wanted to add her as a WeChat contact person and have her join a chat group. A month prior to this, Qilidun Police Station officers in the Qinzhou District had asked Ms. Wang for recent photos and wanted to go to her home to look at her place.
Yushu City Domestic Security Division officers have monitored and followed Ms. Wang Yahua since August 2023. She recently discovered a tracking device had been installed on her electric bicycle.
Ms. Dong Shuhong and Ms. Han Shuyun were reported to the police on September 4, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong in a village. Damengzhuang Police Station officers in the Wuqing District broke into both practitioners’ homes and ransacked them. They confiscated their Falun Gong books.
Ms. Li Lemei, in her 50s, lives in a residential building at the Jishu Mine. She was arrested in July or August 2023. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and tapes. Further information is pending.
