(Minghui.org) Between May and November 2020, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) in Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province ordered the police to follow and videotape local Falun Gong practitioners when they talked to people about the persecution of their faith.
Since the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual discipline, in July 1999, the PLAC, an extra-judiciary agency given power to override the public security and judiciary branches, has been tasked with orchestrating persecution policies.
In November 2020, the police began to arrest and harass local practitioners in Fengcheng. One of the practitioners targeted was Ms. He Ping, who was arrested on November 16. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, Falun Gong magazine, laptop and flash-drive. She was released on bail the next day.
A year later, on November 9, 2021, Wang Haoran of the Fengshan Police Station called Ms. He and asked her to report to the Zhen’an District Procuratorate on the next day, as they just submitted her case to the prosecutor. Wang threatened to arrest Ms. He if she didn’t show up.
Accompanied by her family, Ms. He went to the procuratorate on November 11. She talked to prosecutor Cong Wei and argued that she didn’t violate any law in practicing Falun Gong.
Cong called Ms. He on December 3 and asked her to come three days later. As she didn’t go, Cong called her on the afternoon of December 6 and ordered her to come on the next day at 9:30 a.m.
At the same time, Cong, Wang, and other police and PLAC officers also harassed Ms. He’s son and threatened to force his workplace to fire him if his mother didn’t cooperate with them.
On December 7, Ms. He went to the procuratorate with her son, only to be arrested. Cong told her that he had indicted her and moved her case to the Zhen’an District Court.
Ms. He’s family recently learned that she has been sentenced to one year, but the authorities refused to provide other details about her sentencing.
