(Minghui.org) Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, was first introduced to the public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi. It is a high-level cultivation practice of the Buddha School, guided by the characteristics of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Following these principles, practitioners of Falun Dafa are able to reach higher realms with tremendous health benefits and improved moral standards, contributing to a more stable society.
Practitioners need to study Zhuan Falun (Falun Gong's primary text) repeatedly and do the exercises on a regular basis. In addition, they apply the principles learned from the book to their daily lives. The proper name of the Falun Gong exercises is The Great Consummation Way of Falun Dafa. It includes five sets of exercises. They are:
Exercise 1: Buddha Showing a Thousand Hands
Exercise 2: The Falun Standing Stance
Exercise 3: Penetrating the Two Cosmic Extremes
Exercise 4: The Great Heavenly Circuit
Exercise 5: Strengthening Divine Powers
To make it easier for beginners, this version of the exercise music is one hour in length, with 30 minutes for the standing exercises and another 30 minutes for the sitting exercises. Practitioners can choose to finish all five exercises all at once, or do parts of them in the morning, in the evening, or during their lunch break; whenever it is most convenient for them.
