(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Danyang City, Jiangsu Province] Yang Xinsen Arrested
Yang Xinsen, gender unknown, was arrested in the No. 5 Shop in Yongkang Apartment on Xinmin Road, by over 20 officers from Danyang City Police Department and Jinlin Town Police Station after 10 p.m. on August 4, 2024. They confiscated Yang’s computer and cell phone, and then went to Yang’s home, ransacked the place, and seized two printers, a desktop computer, and the cell phone of Yang’s father. Yang is still detained at the time of writing.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Su Yanxia Faces Indictment, Ms. Xiao Benying Arrested
Ms. Su Yanxia was arrested on July 17, 2024. Her case has been submitted to the procuratorate.
Ms. Xiao Benying was arrested on July 25, 2024.
3. [Taian City, Shandong Province] Additional Information about Mr. Qin Zhenquan’s Arrest
Mr. Qin Zhenquan was arrested by Longquan Police Station officers at about 9 p.m. on August 2, 2024. His wife, Ms. Zhang Liangui, was likely arrested, too. Prior to his arrest, three officers from the Manzhuang Town Police Station harassed him at his apartment on July 26, 2024. They took pictures of him and asked about his workplace.
Both Mr. Qin and Ms. Zhang were also targeted for their faith in 2008. Although Mr. Qin escaped, Ms. Zhang was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison.
4. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Zhang Yigao Held in Brainwashing Center
Zhang Yugao, gender unknown, of Tuanfeng County, was arrested by officers from Tuanfeng County Domestic Security Division and Tuanfeng County Police Department in June 2024. Zhang has since been held in a brainwashing center.
5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Dai Lijun Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison
Ms. Dai Lijun, 75, was arrested at home on July 10, 2023. The authorities kept her family in the dark regarding her case status. They recently confirmed that she had been transferred to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison to serve an 18-month term, but they still don’t know details about her indictment, trial and sentencing.
6. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Haifu Arrested
Mr. Li Haifu was arrested at home by four officers on the morning of July 29, 2024. They ransacked his place and seized about 60 to 70 Falun Gong books, a video player, several copies of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and several video discs of Falun Gong lectures. He was taken to the Songjiang Police Station, and then the Matou Police Station, for interrogation. He refused to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong. He was released after 4 p.m.
7. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Dai Tangfu Detained
Ms. Dai Tangfu, 67, was arrested at home at noon on August 6, 2024 by Zhang Tao, deputy director of Shashi District’s Shengli Police Station and his subordinates. They suspected that she was the one who was recorded by the surveillance cameras distributing Falun Gong flyers in a community and gave her 15 days of detention.
8. [Beijing] Mr. Wang Weiming Sentenced to One Year
Mr. Wang Weiming lives in Xia Village, Shilou Town, Fangshan District. He was sentenced to one year in prison by the Fangshan District Court for distributing Falun Gong flyers. He is serving time in a new detention center in Fangshan District’s Changyang area.
9. [Chongqing] Additional Information about Mr. Liu Shurong’s Arrest
Mr. Liu Shurong, 80, of the Dazhu District was arrested by Longshui Town Police Station officers when he was distributing Falun Gong flyers on the afternoon of June 23, 2024. They ransacked his home and seized two laptops, two pictures of the founder of Falun Gong, and Falun Gong printouts. He is being held in the Dazhu District Detention Center.
10. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Five Arrested in One Day and Two Have Been Sentenced
Five practitioners in Yi County, including Mr. Qin Shuhai, Ms. Li Guibin, Ms. Chu Hongfen, Ms. Liu Yulan, and Mr. Shi Baosheng, were arrested on January 18, 2024 by more than 10 officers from Yi County Domestic Security Division, patrol division, and special division. Ms. Li and Ms. Chu were released after serving administrative detention. Mr. Qin, Ms. Liu, and Mr. Shi were held in Yi County Detention Center. The Linghai Court sentenced Mr. Qin to three years in prison, Ms. Liu to two years in prison, on April 12, 2024. Mr. Shi has been released. It’s not clear whether he was sentenced.
Mr. Qin is no longer detained in Yi County Detention Center. It’s not clear whether he has been admitted to a prison.
11. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Two Practitioners Arrested and One Harassed
Mr. Zhang Fengjun was arrested on the morning of July 25, 2024, by officers from Yushu City Domestic Security Division and Wukeshu Police Station. They seized his music player and a copy of “How Humankind Came To Be,” a recent article written by Falun Gong’s founder. He was detained for five days.
Zhong Jianhua, gender unknown, of Huzhu Village, Wukeshu Town, was arrested at the same time. Zhong was released shortly after.
Ms. Mu Guirong of Chengfa Township was photographed without her knowledge by officer Zhang from the Chengfa Township Police Station on May 10, 2024. Her village security director, Li Songlin, went to her home and took a picture of her against her will in June 2024.
12. [Botou City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners and a Family Member Harassed
Four practitioners in Caozhuang Village, Wangwu Town, including Ms. Pang Hechun, Ms. Liu Yanzhen, Ms. Zhang Shuqing, and Ms. Gao Meifen, together with Ms. Gao’s husband, who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, were harassed by the village Party secretary and two officers from Wangwu Town Police Station. The harassers questioned if they were still practicing Falun Gong and videotaped the process.
13. [Liquan County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Hao Detained
Ms. Zhang Hao was arrested at her workplace, the Changqing Oilfield Liquan Base, by several officers from Liquan County Domestic Security Division after 9 a.m. on June 4, 2024. Her two copies of Zhuan Falun, two cell phones, and two laptops were confiscated. She was taken to the Liquan Police Department, where the officers took her blood sample and height by force. She was taken to the Liquan People’s Hospital and underwent a physical exam. They then took her to the county detention center. She was detained for 15 days and released on June 19, 2024.
