(Minghui.org) Four residents of Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, were sentenced on April 17, 2024 for practicing Falun Gong. One of them has finished serving time, while the other three remain detained.
Ms. Liu Zaiyun, Mr. Hou Shuyuan, Ms. Su Chunfeng and Ms. Hu Xiumei were all arrested on January 11, 2022. While Ms. Su was released on bail three days later, she was taken back into custody on July 13, 2023. All four of them were convicted on April 17, 2024, with Ms. Liu and Mr. Hou each sentenced to 3 years and fined 10,000 yuan, and Ms. Su and Ms. Hu each given 2.5 years and fined 5,000 yuan.
The Cangzhou City Intermediate Court ruled on June 27, 2024, to uphold the guilty verdicts of the four practitioners. Ms. Hu was released on July 11, 2024 after serving her 2.5-year term. Ms. Liu and Ms. Su remain at the Cangzhou City Detention Center. Mr. Hou was transferred to the Jidong Prison Administration Bureau on August 3, 2024. His family was not given any official notice of his prison admission and was told to wait for further notification when they called the prison to inquire about his condition.
There are nine prison branches under the Jidong Prison Administration Bureau. According to insiders, newly admitted Falun Gong practitioners are usually held at the Jidong Fourth Prison for two months before being assigned to one of the eight other prisons.
