(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 13 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Gao Qihui, in her 50s, along with two other practitioners, were arrested in 2023. Ms. Gao has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Nanbu County Court, and another elderly practitioner, in her 80s, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison. They were both held in the Nanchong City Detention Center.
Ms. Gao and the other practitioners will be taken to Sichuan Women’s Prison in March 2024.
The second trial of Ms. Meng Lili, Mr. Zhang Ruitong, and Ms. Wang Ying will soon be held in the Baotou Intermediate Court.
Ms. Ma Xiuhua from Laiyuan County was reported to the police when she was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Xinyu Commercial Building on March 9, 2024. She was arrested by officers from the Laiyuan County Police Department and detained for two weeks.
Ms. Luo Xizhen from Dongchang District was arrested by officers from the Tuanjie Police Station on March 1, 2024. The police ransacked her home and confiscated many personal belongings. She is being detained.
Ms. Wu Shixiang and Ms. Fei Dongmei, 70, from Xiazhuang Sub-district, Chengyang District, were arrested on February 29, 2024 at the Xiazhuang farmers market, by officers from the Xiazhuang Police Station.
Ms. Fei was taken to the Pudong Detention Center at around 11 p.m. on March 1. Ms. Fei went on a hunger strike to protest the abuse, and demanded to see her family. She was pulled by her hair, and her head was smashed against the wall. She subsequently had headaches and constant pain in her lower abdomen.
Mr. Zhang Xuefu was arrested on July 14, 2023, and sentenced to three years and two months in prison by Sanhe City Court on January 26, 2024. Mr. Zhang did not accept the verdict and appealed. His appeal case was brought to Langfang City Intermediate Court on February 23, 2024. The judge who accepted the case was Feng Zhengyao of the Second Criminal Court.
Officers from the Tayu Town Police Station in the Wanghua District twice went to the home of Mr. Li Tingchu, 74, within a week in early March 2024 and harassed him.
When a group of officers went there the first time, they climbed over the wall and photographed Mr. Li’s car. The second time they came, they again took photos of his car. They then took multiple photos of Mr. Li. Despite his refusal, they photographed Mr. Li anyway.
Mr. Li and his daughter Ms. Li Shuang were arrested at home by officers from the Tayu Police Station on October 16, 2022 and their home was ransacked. On the evening of October 17, Mr. Li felt ill and was released. His daughter Ms. Li was taken to the Xinbin County Detention Center. She later returned home. She is now displaced.
