(Minghui.org) A Huilai County, Guangdong Province resident was taken to the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison around January 19, 2024 to serve a three-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhu Meiling, 62, was arrested on the evening of November 28, 2022, after being reported by a villager for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. Her arrest was approved on January 6, 2023 and taken to the Huilai County Detention Center.
Minghui.org recently confirmed Ms. Zhu’s prison sentence by the Jiedong District Court, but details about her indictment, hearing and trial aren’t clear.
Prior to her latest sentencing, Ms. Zhu was given 1.5 years of forced labor on May 28, 2003 by the Huilai County 610 Office, an extra-legal agency created specifically to oversee the persecution of Falun Gong.
