(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 3 provinces, where at least 14 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Jiantai Sentenced to Prison
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Case Against Zhang Yu Submitted to the Court
3. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Arrested and Detained
4. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Li Persecuted
5. [Beijing] Ms. Du Zonghong Released
6. [Tianjin] Ms. Xue Guanghui Arrested and Detained
7. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Arrested or Harassed
1. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Jiantai Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Yang Jiantai was arrested on May 5, 2023 and was sent to the Suizhou City Detention Center. She was tried in court on August 15, 2023 and was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. Ms. Yang was transferred to the Wuhan City Women’s Prison on January 14, 2024.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Case Against Zhang Yu Submitted to the Court
Zhang Yu (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Chengxi Police Station on September 8, 2023 and sent to the Changchun City Detention Center. The case against Zhang was submitted to the Chaoyang District Court by the Chaoyang District Procuratorate on January 4, 2024.
3. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Arrested and Detained
Five practitioners were arrested on January 18, 2024. Ms. Wang Lei was taken to the Mudanjiang City Detention Center. Her husband Mr. Li Peng and three other practitioners, Mr. Zhang Zhong, Mr. Shen Yuguo and Mr. Jiang Feng, were taken to the Suifenhe City Detention Center.
When Ms. Wang Lei and her husband Mr. Li Peng were arrested their two children have no one to care for them. One child is in junior high school and the other is in elementary school.
4. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Li Persecuted
Ms. Yang Li, about 70, lives in Pearl River Taiyangcheng in Wujian Road, Jiangbei District. She was previously detained in prison for four years.
Ms. Yang went to the Guangyingqiao Business Center in Jiangbei District to distribute information about Falun Gong on February 8, 2024 but was tracked by Big Data surveillance. The police told her to go to the police station that afternoon. She refused.
5. [Beijing] Ms. Du Zonghong Released
Ms. Du Zonghong from Huairou District was arrested by officers from the Quanhe Police Station in 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to nine months in prison. Ms. Du was very weak when she was released on January 18, 2024.
6. [Tianjin] Ms. Xue Guanghui Arrested and Detained
Ms. Xue Guanghui was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested at her home by four officers from the Heping District Police Department on the morning of January 18, 2024. She was taken to a detention house and held for 15 days.
When Ms. Xue Guanghui returned home, her vomit was yellow-green, then green. She believes she was drugged.
7. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Arrested or Harassed
Ms. Wu Liwen was arrested at home on December 5, 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated a copy of Minghui Weekly and a MP5 which had Falun Gong related programs. Ms. Wu was detained for two weeks.
Ms. Du Guiru was harassed at home on December 4 or 5, 2023.
Mr. Xu Zhiguo received a call from the Tiedong Police Station and was asked where he lived.
Chen Ji was harassed by a police officer at home on December 28, 2023.
