(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
It was recently reported that the Meixian District Court sentenced six practitioners to prison and imposed heavy fines.
Ms. Zeng Xiuqiong received a five-year-and-six-month prison term and a 90,000-yuan fine; Ms. Xie Guofen was sentenced to a four-year-and-six-month prison term and a 70,000-yuan fine; Ms. Li Lizhen received a four-year prison term and a 60,000-yuan fine; Ms. Zhang Taofeng was handed a two-year prison term and a 30,000-yuan fine; and Ms. Liu Meifen and Ms. Huang Shuzhen were each given one year with one and a half years probation and a 15,000-yuan fine.
Ms. Wang Wei, 67, and Ms. Zhao Xilan, in her 70s, from Sujiatun District, were arrested on July 12, 2024, and had their arrests approved on July 26. The Hunnan District Procuratorate indicted them at an unknown date. They were scheduled to stand trial at the Hunnan District Court on November 22, 2024.
Ms. Liu Benzhi was arrested in August 2024 and secretly sentenced to two and a half years in prison. She is being held in the Mudanjiang City Prison.
Mr. Zhang Jintao from Hebian Village was tried by the Anlu City Court on the morning of November 13, 2024. The judge adjourned the session without announcing a verdict. He is still held in the Yunmeng Detention Center.
Ms. Shi Yulian was arrested while distributing Falun Gong informational calendars at the Xing’an Village farmers market on the morning of November 16, 2024. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Liang Shuzhi, 87, was recently harassed by staffers from the Jinsheng Community Management Office in the China Institute of Metal Research in Shenhe District. They took pictures of her and ordered her to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong, which she refused to do.
Ms. Zhang Heyin and another practitioner were talking to people about Falun Gong at the Qianmotou Town farmers market on November 8, 2024, and were arrested by four plainclothes officers from the Qianmotou Town Police Station. The two practitioners were pushed into a police car and taken to the police station, where they were threatened and photographed. Their families were also threatened and had to pay 2,000 yuan in exchange for the release of each practitioner.
It was recently reported that practitioner Sun Chengfu was sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Kuancheng District Court. Sun is scheduled to be released in March 2025.
Ms. Ma Jun was released on October 27, 2024 after finishing serving a four-year prison term.
