Additional Persecution News from China – March 14, 2021 (8 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 11 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Junjiang Faces Trial

5. [Shuangliao City, Jilin Province] Ms. Bie Lihua and Her Husband Mr. Chu Guiyan Arrested and Sentenced to Prison
6. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Kaixiu and Ms. Zhou Xingyan Arrested
7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jiang Yifen and Ms. Zheng Yufang Arrested
8. [Wuwei City, Gansu Province] Ms. Cai Shuwen Arrested

1. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Junjiang Faces Trial

Mr. Zhang Junjiang from Quzhou County will be tried online by the Congtai District Court on March 17, 2022. His family has hired a lawyer for him.

2. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Mr. Cen Xuedong Faces Trial

Mr. Cen Xuedong in his 70s from the Xisai Mountain area was arrested on August 19, 2021. He has been detained for six months. Mr. Cen will be tried online on March 16, 2022.

3. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guiru Detained

Ms. Wang Guiru was taken from her home by three plainclothes police officers around 10 a.m. on March 10, 2022. Her cell phone was confiscated. She is currently detained in the Qinhuangdao City Detention Center.

4. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhang Li Missing

Ms. Zhang Li from the Yuexiu District has not been heard from since January 13, 2022. Ms. Zhang was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from the Datang Street Police Station in the Yuexiu District on December 16, 2020. Her home and her mother’s home were ransacked. She was released on bail pending trial for one year. 

Ms. Zhang was harassed by local police officers after she was released. The case against her was submitted to the Yuexiu District Procuratorate and was later transferred to the Liwan District Procuratorate. She was informed in early July 2021 that her case would be submitted to the Liwan District Court and she would be arrested. Ms. Zhang refused to cooperate during the process.

5. [Shuangliao City, Jilin Province] Ms. Bie Lihua and Her Husband Mr. Chu Guiyan Arrested and Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Bie Lihua was arrested on October 8, 2017 and was placed under former arrest on October 16, 2017. She was later sentenced to five years in prison and lost her civil servant job. Ms. Bie was released from the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on February 16, 2022.

Her husband, Mr. Chu Guiyan, was arrested in April 2019 and was later sentenced to eight years in prison. He is currently detained in the Gongzhuling Prison. 

6. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Kaixiu and Ms. Zhou Xingyan Arrested

Ms. Chen Kaixiu and Ms. Zhou Xingyan were reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong on Xinhua Street. They were arrested by five officers from the Xiaohan Town Police Station around 10 a.m. on March 9, 2022. Both practitioners were taken to the police station for interrogation. They were released in the afternoon and were each fined 2000 yuan. 

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jiang Yifen and Ms. Zheng Yufang Arrested

A group of officers from the Chengbei Police Station and the Acheng District Police Department arrested Ms. Jiang Yifen and Ms. Zheng Yufang from their homes in the early morning hours of March 3, 2022. The arrest order was issued by the provincial authority after the practitioners were tracked and videotaped while distributing information about Falun Gong on February 13, 2022. 

The police ransacked their homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books. They also took a photo of Falun Gong’s founder from Ms. Jiang Yifen’s home. Ms. Zheng was released around 5 p.m. that evening. Ms. Jiang will be detained for 40 days in isolation in Mulan and afterwards will be transferred to the Harbin City Detention Center. 

8. [Wuwei City, Gansu Province] Ms. Cai Shuwen Arrested

Ms. Cai Shuwen in her 70s was arrested by two officers from the Shuangcheng Police Station when she was working at her small vendor booth. The officers did not show their IDs and did not explain why they arrested her. Ms. Cai was taken to the police station. Her home was ransacked. Her personal belongings were confiscated including Zhuan Falun, the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, her cell phone, etc. Ms. Cai was released the same day. Her cell phone was returned two days later.
