(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Qingwen Passes Away Due to Abuse in Prison

Ms. Wang Qingwen, 78, was held in the No. 8 Ward of Jilin Province Women’s Prison. As a result of severe abuse, she developed illness symptoms and was transferred to Ward 10, the hospital prison ward. Only those who are seriously ill are transferred there.

Ms. Wang’s condition was so bad that she could not be treated in the hospital ward. Prison officials transferred her to the Public Security Hospital in late October 2021. It was reported that Ms. Wang passed away, but the date of her death is unknown.

2. [Kaijiang County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Mingying and Ms. Wan Zhengping Taken to Prison

Ms. Liu Mingying was sentenced to five years and six months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Kaijiang County Court on October 27, 2021. She refused to accept the sentence, and filed an appeal. The Dazhou City Intermediate Court ruled to uphold the original judgment. Ms. Liu has been taken to Chengdu Women’s Prison.

At the same time, Ms. Wan Zhengping was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. She was also taken to the same prison.

3. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Summoned to Zunhua Court

Ms. Geng Fuxia, Mr. Wei Guoshen, Ms. Lu Caiyun, Ms. Fu Ruiying from the Fengrun District were summoned to the Zunhua Court. Ms. Lu and Ms. Fu were told to sign paperwork, after which they would be allowed to go home.

When Ms. Geng and Mr. Wei went in, the judge said that the second instance was completed. Both practitioners had to sign it and they could appeal. Mr. Wei was taken to the Fengrun Detention Center, but the detention center refused to take Ms. Geng because her blood pressure was as high as 240. She went home the same day.

4. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Fu Xizhen Arrested

Ms. Fu Xizhen was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong, distributing desk calendars, and paper-cut artworks of “Blissfulness” at the Qiaotou farmers market in Huancui District on the morning of January 19, 2022. Three police officers took her to the Qiaotou Police Station. They confiscated the items in her bag, including Falun Gong keepsakes, pendants, a desk calendar, and paper-cut artworks.

The officers took Ms. Fu to the Economic and Technological Development Zone for nucleic acid testing. Ms. Fu did not cooperate. They then took her to Qiaotou Hospital, where they measured her blood pressure, which was as high as 228. The officers went to Ms. Fu’s home, ransacked the place, and confiscated a copy of the book Zhuan Falun, two copies of Master’s lectures given in various places, two desk calendars, keepsakes, pendants, and two of Master’s most recent articles.

The officers took Ms. Fu to the Wenquan Police Station, where two officers held her down and forcibly took blood samples from her. Ms. Fu was released after being held for over six hours in the police station.

5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Tairong Taken Into Custody

Ms. Sun Tairong clarified the truth about Falun Gong in her rental house on the morning of January 20, 2022, and was reported to the police. Residential police officer Li and another residential officer arrested Ms. Sun. They confiscated three photos of Falun Gong’s founder, a computer, a printer, a Falun Gong book, printed materials, and supplies. She was taken to the Nangang Domestic Security Division. Her family went there to demand her release on January 22 and learned that she had been transferred to the Dacheng Police Station.

6. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Jia Jinghe Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Jia Jinghe was sentenced to five years in prison by the Songyuan City Court. He has appealed.

7. [Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province] Original Verdict Against Mr. Liu Qingyu Upheld

Mr. Liu Qingyu’s appeal case was filed at the Yingkou Intermediate Court on December 8, 2021. On December 23, the Yingkou City Intermediate Court issued a criminal judgment, upholding the original sentence.

Mr. Liu’s family asked Liu Ziyao, the case handler at the Nanlou Police Department, that items not related to the case be returned, including his driver’s license, vehicle permit, 3,400 yuan in cash, three smartphones, and two cell phones for senior people. Liu Ziyao made up excuses not to return any of the items. Mr. Liu’s family members have filed complaints at each level as required by law.

8. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Qiping Placed Under Administrative Detention

Mr. Zhang Qiping was taking care of his granddaughter at his son’s home in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, on the morning of January 7, 2022, when three police officers from the Anzhen Police Station in Xishan District, Wuxi City, arrested him. The officers ransacked the place and confiscated printed materials, a notebook computer, a tablet, and a cell phone. Mr. Zhang was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials and telling others how to stay healthy during the pandemic.

Mr. Zhang was placed under administrative detention for seven days on January 8. He has since returned home. He has also asked for and received personal belongings that were confiscated by the police.

9. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Guihua Held in Detention Center

Ms. Li Guihua from the Yantai Development Zone was followed and arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials on the morning of January 14, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Development Zone Detention Center.

10. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Shuzhen Displaced

Ms. Gao Shuzhen has been displaced since June 7, 2021. The deputy head of the Linqing City Domestic Security Division and five other people, including officers from the Tangyuan Town Police Station, broke into Ms. Gao’s home on the afternoon of January 19, 2022, and ransacked the place. The officers did not find what they were looking for, and threatened Ms. Gao’s family. They told the family that Ms. Gao had to turn herself in before she could be released on bail. At noon the next day, Ma Bin, director of the Tangyuan Town Police Station, and a police assistant again harassed her family.

11. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Bai Mei and Her Brother Mr. Bai Tao Arrested

Six or seven police officers from the Chongli District arrested Ms. Bai Mei after breaking into her daughter’s rented home in Gaojiaying Town Residential Community at 9 p.m. on January 20, 2022.

They also broke into Mr. Bai Tao’s home in Gaojiaying Town. Mr. Bai and his mother were not at home at the time. The officers confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, speakers, and a tablet.

Mr. Bai Tao was arrested by six or seven police officers led by Party secretary Liu Wanming of Gaojiaying Village at 10 a.m. on January 21. Ms. Bai Mei and her younger brother Mr. Bai Tao were taken to Zhangjiakou Hospital for physical examinations. They were then taken to the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center.

12. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Xing Gezhen Arrested

Ms. Xing Gezhen was arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials on January 11, 2022.

13. [Qingyang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Zhang Ping Held in Detention Center

Ms. Zhang Ping was arrested in Waxie Township, Ning County, on November 22, 2021. The local police body-searched her and took her keys. They went to Ms. Zhang’s younger sister’s home twice, on November 23 and 24, to ask for Ms. Zhang’s home address. They did not get the address.

The officers went to Ms. Zhang’s sister’s home again on November 28 and lied, saying that Ms. Zhang wanted to return to the rented house. Ms. Zhang’s sister believed them and took the officers there. The officers immediately ransacked the place and confiscated a computer, three cell phones, and Falun Gong books.

Ms. Zhang is being held in the Ning County Detention Center.

14. [Hancheng City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Xiufeng Harassed

Officers from the Weinan Police Station repeatedly called and harassed Ms. Zhang Xiufeng before May 14, 2021, which resulted in her collapsing outside the Weinan Construction Bank on May 14. A kindhearted lady took her to the Weinan City Hospital and left without leaving her name.

During the rescue, the doctors found that Ms. Zhang had suffered a severe stroke and massive brain hemorrhage. Her lungs were filling with blood. The police continued to carry out the persecution.

On May 17, the officers again called and harassed Ms. Zhang’s family, who were intimidated. On June 12, Ms. Zhang was recovered within a month and returned home. The doctors and others who witnessed her recovery said it was a miracle.

On November 10, police officers accompanied by a residential community staff member with the last name Wang went to Ms. Zhang’s home again for harassment. Her family did not cooperate with the officers.

15. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Mingli Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Zhou Mingli, in her 70s, was taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in July 2021. She was transferred to the Yusunshan Brainwashing Center in the Jianghan District in September, where she was held for over five months. She was later taken back to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center. Officers from the Hanzhong Police Station recently brought Ms. Zhou back home.

16. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xu Zhiqiong and Ms. Liu Yuqi Harassed

Party secretary Yang Zhiyou and women’s director Fu Daoxiang of Yuanshi Village, Mengyang Town, went to Ms. Xu Zhiqiong’s home and pressured her to sign paperwork on November 24, 2021.

On the afternoon of the same day, Wang Hua, who lives in Limin Street, Mengyang Town, along with Liao Yong, deputy Party secretary of Dongta Community, Mengyang Town, and others, went to Ms. Liu Yuqi’s home in the Beijie area, Mengyang Town, and pressured her to sign paperwork.

17. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Ye Fang Arrested

Ms. Ye Fang was arrested on the morning of January 19, 2022. Further details are not available.

18. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Dai Zuolan’s Pension Withheld

In September 2021, Ms. Dai Zuolan’s pension was withheld by the Junshan District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, which did not notify her or provide any reason.

Ms. Dai and her daughter made numerous inquiries and went to the Social Security Bureau. They were told that because Ms. Dai was sentenced to one year in prison 30,000 yuan of her pension payments had to be deducted, and she had to bring in the judgment, release letter, and 30,000 yuan. Only after the entire process was completed, would she start receiving her pension again.

Ms. Dai was harassed three times in October and November 2021 by Qianlianghu Town officials.

19. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Hu Fanxia Arrested

Ms. Hu Fanxia from Gaozhuang Town was arrested on January 21, 2022. Further information is pending.
