Additional Persecution News from China - November 7, 2022 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 12 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

9. [Shanghai] Elderly Practitioner Ms. Wu Koudi Harassed and Monitored
10. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Mr. Xu Jianhua and Yang Huiyong Arrested

1. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yin Jun Taken to Prison

Ms. Yin Jun was arrested on June 18, 2020. She was held in the Changchun No. 4 Detention Center.

Ms. Yin was held two court hearings by the Chaoyang District Court on May 24, 2021, and July 20, 2021, and was sentenced to prison for two years and ten months. She was taken to the Jilin Women’s Prison on November 3, 2022.

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Fu Shengqiang Detained in Brainwashing Center

Mr. Fu Shengqiang was told he tested positive (for COVID) in August 2022 when he worked on a renovation project. He was placed under quarantine for 21 days in an unknown place. After Mr. Fu’s quarantine ended, he was forcibly taken to a brainwashing center. His whereabouts are unknown.

3. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Shumei Arrested and Detained

Ms. Li Shumei was arrested in September 2022. She has been held in the Shulan Detention Center.

4. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Fu Yizhi Arrested and Harassed

Seven or eight officers from the Dashanping Police Station in the Jiangyang District broke into Ms. Fu Yizhi’s home on October 23, 2022. They ransacked the place and confiscated her Falun Gong books, audio players, calendars printed with Falun Gong information, and more than ten informational pamphlets.

Ms. Fu was taken to the Dashanping Police Station. She returned home the same day.

Three uniformed officers and one plainclothes went to Ms. Fu’s home on November 4, 2022. They harassed and videotaped her.

5. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Wu Gaoqing Missing Since October 2022

Wu Gaoqing (gender unknown) has been missing since mid-October, 2022. 

6. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Lu Zhanping’s Suspended Pension Reissued 

Ms. Lu Zhanping, a retiree from the Huabei Oilfield, had her pension suspended in April 2021. 

It is learned recently that her pension has been reissued since April 2022. 

7. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Yu Li’s Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Yu Li and his wife Ms. Xia Jiangyan have been persecuted multiple times including arrest, detention, forced labor, etc.

Mr. Yu Li was arrested at his workplace in Yang County by officers from the Xinyuan Police Station and the Hanzhong District Police Department on August 24, 2022. He has been held in the Yang County Detention Center since then.

Ms. Xia Jiangyan was arrested by officers from the Hanzhong City Police Station in October 2022. She was held for three days in a detention center and was released on bail.

8. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Dong Yiran’s Pension Suspended

Mr. Dong Yiran, a 61-year-old former police engineer, was fired by the Shenyang Police Department because he did not give up practicing Falun Gong. The Shenyang City Pension and Insurance Association suspended all his pension benefits.

Mr. Dong was arrested on February 24, 2022, while distributing materials about Falun Gong. The Yuhong District Court tried Mr. Dong through a video hearing on August 4, 2022. He was sentenced to three years in prison on August 7, 2022.

Mr. Dong was then taken to the Shenyang City No. 2 Prison. The prison authorities barred his family from visiting him, sending him daily necessities, or making cash deposits.

9. [Shanghai] Elderly Practitioner Ms. Wu Koudi Harassed and Monitored

Local police in Yangpu District monitored and followed 72-year-old Ms. Wu Koudi from November 1 to 12, 2022.

10. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Mr. Xu Jianhua and Yang Huiyong Arrested

Mr. Yang Huiyong, from Wuyi County, was arrested in early November 2022. He held a hunger strike and escaped after being held for 5 days. He was arrested again when Mr. Xu Jianhua, from Hengshui city, tried to drive him to a safe place. Mr. Xu was arrested as well. Further information is pending.
