(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 54 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Aihua Faces Trial

Ms. Liu Aihua was arrested on January 12, 2021. She was scheduled to be tried in the Dongtashi City People’s Court at 9 a.m., on August 11, 2021.

2. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiulan Officially Arrested

Ms. Zhang Xiulan was arrested by officers from the Taihe District Domestic and Security Division on July 9, 2021, and has been detained in the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center. Her entire body is now badly swollen. Ms. Zhang has now been officially arrested. 

3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Luo Zuohua Arrested

Ms. Luo Zuohua, around 70, was followed to her new home by officers from the Gusaoshu Police Station in the Jianghan District. She was arrested around 11 a.m., on July 6, 2021. One month has passed and her current situation is unknown since she is unable to contact her family members. 

4. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Fengzhen Arrested

Ms. Zhang Fengzhen, in her 60s, lives on Zhenzhulu Street. She was observed on a surveillance camera when she distributed truth-clarifying materials in Kuandian County. She was arrested on July 29, 2021. She was placed in criminal detention and was detained in the Kuandian County Detention Center. 

5. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] 12 Practitioners Arrested 

Directed by the Chaoyang City Police Department, officers from the Lingyuan City Police Department arrested 12 practitioners and one practitioner’s family member on June 11, 2021. They are Mr. Liu Jingrui and his wife Ms. Cao Yueping, Mr. Wang Zhongxue and his wife Ms. Wu Yanling, Ms. Liu Ruifen, Zhang Kunshan (gender unknown), Ms. Zhou Yajuan, Ms. Yu Shufen, Li Xiuchun (gender unknown), Ms. Liu Sulan, Ms. Li Jing, and Ms. Tian Na. 

Li Xiuchun and Ms. Liu Ruifen’s son (non-practitioner) were released on the same day. Ms. Tian Na was detained for 15 days and has returned home. It was learned on July 16, 2021, that Ms. Zhou Yajuan, Ms. Liu Ruifen, Mr. Liu Jingrui and his wife Ms. Cao Yueping have been released and are now back home. 

Six practitioners are still detained. Zhang Kunshan is detained in the Lingyuan City Detention Center. Mr. Wang Zhongxue is detained in the Jianping County adjacent to Lingyuan City. Ms. Wu Yanling, Ms. Yu Shufen, Ms. Li Jing and Ms. Liu Sulan are detained in the Chaoyang City Women’s Detention Center. It is learned that they are all under official arrest. Their cases have been returned to the police department a few times by the procuratorate due to insufficient evidence. 

In addition, Ms. Qiao Yinglan who was sentenced to 10 months in prison is also detained in the Chaoyang City Women’s Detention Center. 

6. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Dr. Jia Guojie Detained in Brainwashing Center

Dr. Jia Guojie, 50, works in a hospital in Xi’an City and his hometown is in Diantou Village, Jifeng Town, Jishan County. On July 30, 2021, he was arrested in the hospital by the director of the Jishan County 610 Office, the secretary of the Jifeng Town Party Committee, and Guo Tieshan who is the head of the Yuncheng City Domestic Security Division, and officers from local police station. Dr. Jia was detained in a hotel room near the hospital where he works. He was subjected to brainwashing there.

7. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Long Juying and Chen Dingyun Harassed

Long Juying (gender unknown) was harassed at home by Su Jing, an official in Huanglong Village of Lichun Town on June 29, 2021. The practitioner was photographed, pressured to sign a guarantee statement and warned not to practice Falun Gong. 

Liu Yong from the Longfeng Town Neighborhood Office and Song Yong, secretary of Xihe Village Party Committee, forcefully took Chen Dingyun (gender unknown) to the Pengzhou City Brainwashing Center on April 1, 2021. Chen was pressured to write the three statements. 

8. [Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Ma Yongju Detained

Ms. Ma Yongju has been sentenced to four years but was not detained due to her physical condition. Several officers from the Zhongshan District Court including Rao Qing went to Ms. Ma’s home on July 26, 2021. They took Ms. Ma to undergo a physical examination and then sent her to the No.2 Detention Center. Ms. Ma was taken to the hospital that night due to high blood pressure and was later taken back to the detention center. 

9. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Cui Qunying Sentenced to One and a Half Years in Prison

Cui Qunying (gender unknown) from Chaoyangchuan Town was sentenced to one and a half years in prison and fined 2000 yuan.

10. [Huadian City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Guoliang Harassed

Mr. Liu Guoliang was harassed at home by two officers from the Qixin Police Station around 9 a.m., on August 4, 2021. When the officers came Mr. Liu refused to open the door for them. After the two officers threatened to call more officers, Mr. Liu let them in. They asked Mr. Liu if he still practiced Falun Gong and he confirmed it. They looked around his place and then left.

11. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ji Jinmu Officially Arrest

Mr. Ji Jinmu, as well as Yu Baiqing, were officially arrested by the Jiaozhou Procuratorate on July 8, 2021. Mr. Ji Jinmu and Yu Baiqing are currently detained in the Duchun Detention Center. Mr. Huang Yuqiang and Ye Yu were released on bail pending trial.

Mr. Ji Jinmu’s home was ransacked by officers from the Zhongyun Police Station when no one was at his home. The police confiscated his Falun Gong books, computer, printer, and 100 20-yuan paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts. Later Mr. Ji was told to sign on the confiscation list, which he refused. He was detained for 23 days in the Zhongyun Police Station and in the police department. 

12. [Yiyuan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Guoying and Ms. Liu Guangxia Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhou Guoying and Ms. Liu Guangxia were reported to police for distributing truth-clarifying materials and talking to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station in mid-February 2020. They were placed under residential surveillance for eight months. 

Later Ms. Zhou Guoying was sentenced to eight months in prison by the Boshan District Court and Ms. Liu Guangxia was sentenced to seven months in prison. Ms. Zhou was bailed out for medical treatment just before the 2021 Chinese New Year. Ms. Liu was released at the end of May 2021. 

13. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuyun Arrested and Detained

Ms. Zhang Xiuyun went to the Dongxinzhang Market in Fangshunqiao Township, Mancheng County with the other practitioners on July 16, 2021. They were arrested by officers from the Fangshunqiao Township Police Station for distributing truth-clarifying materials and talking to people about Falun Gong. After being photographed and having their blood samples taken in the police station, Ms. Zhang was taken to the Mancheng County Detention Center. She was detained there for 14 days and fined 900 yuan. She has now returned home.

14. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Manqin Harassed

Ms. Wang Manqin lives in Beiyingfeng Village, Zhangerzhuang Township of Wei County. An officer from the Domestic Security Division and the Party committee village secretary went to her home on August 6, 2021. They questioned her family member whether she still practiced Falun Gong. 

15. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Zhang Xianhao and his wife Ms. Yin Fengchun, and Mr. Zhang Xianwei live in Dagou Village, Shimiaozi Township, Xiuyan County. They were harassed at home by twelve people including the secretary of the town Party committee, the chairman of the township People’s Congress and police officers. The practitioners were pressured to sign a guarantee statement, which they refused. They were threatened and told that their children would lose their jobs because of them. Mr. Zhang Xianhao’s son who is under 16 years old, was called to the police station to make a transcript. 

16. [Beijing] 79-year-old Ms. Hu Xingxian Harassed

The home of 79-year-old Ms. Hu Xingxian was ransacked last year. She was summoned several times by the Fengtai District Court this year, but she did not cooperate. She was threatened and told that the police would come to her home to arrest her. 

17. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Ms. Cui Qunying Sentenced to One and a Half Years in Prison

Ms. Cui Qunying was sentenced to one and a half years in prison and fined 2000 yuan by the Railway Transportation Court on August 10, 2021, after three hearings. Ms. Cui plans to appeal.

18. [Beijing] Four Practitioners Officially Arrested

Four practitioners Yang Jingxia, Wu Fangling, Guo Jinshan, and Han Shimin were arrested in Yongning Town on June 28, 2021. They are now placed under official arrest. 

19. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Over-80-year-old Mr. Sun Jianguo and His Wife Harassed

Mr. Sun Jianguo and his wife were harassed at home twice at the end of July 2021 and on August 5, 2021. Three people including Xu Jianzheng from the Zhaoyuan City 610 Office broke into the elderly practitioners’ home and pressured the couple to sign a guarantee statement, which they refused. They also tried to take a photo of them, but the couple stopped them. 

20. [Tianjing] Ms. Gou Ruiying Harassed

Ms. Gou Ruiying was tricked and went to the local neighborhood committee office on the morning of July 20, 2021. Four people including officers from the Tanggu New Harbor Police Station were there. They pressured her to sign a guarantee statement, which she refused. Ms. Gou received a harassing call from them on July 22, 2021. 

21. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Duan Huixian and Duan Yonglan Harassed

Two officers from the Xinjie Police Station in Puning District went to Ms. Duan Huixian’s home on June 10, 2021. They pressured Ms. Duan to sign a guarantee statement. 

Officer Wang Qijun from the Xinjie Police Station went to Ms. Duan Yonglan’s home on July 10, 2021. The officer threatened Ms. Duan and said that her grandson would not be allowed to take the civil service exam if she refused to sign a guarantee statement. 

22. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Qinglan and Her Younger Sister Arrested

Three officers from the Huashan Road Police Station in Jiangnan Township, Fengman District went to Ms. Wang Qinglan’s home on July 15, 2021. They claimed that Ms. Wang and her younger sister were seen posting signs along the street. They ransacked Ms. Wang’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, media player, 400 yuan in paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts, and other personal belongings. The two sisters were taken to the police station and were questioned about the source of the truth-clarifying materials. They did not cooperate. They were photographed and were released that day. 

23. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Harassed 

Four practitioners Zhang Xuejun, Peng Laomin, Liu Xingzhi, and Wang Jinyou were harassed at home by the director of the Politic and Legal Affairs Committee of Jinjia Town in Changtu County, and the security director of Wukuaishi Village on August 10, 2021. The practitioners were pressured to sign a guarantee statement, which they all refused. 

24. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Mingfeng Arrested

Ms. Huang Mingfeng was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Jinyu Town and was arrested just after 9 a.m., on August 9, 2021. She has not yet been released. 

25. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Lijuan Arrested

Ms. Zhang Lijuan was arrested by officers from the Lingshui Town Police Station around March 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong in Lingshui Town. Her home was ransacked. She is currently detained in the Dalian City Detention Center. 

26. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhu Jianling Missing

No one has heard from Ms. Zhu Jianling for nearly a year.

27. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Lifeng Arrested

Ms. Hu Lifeng, in her 70s, was arrested by officers from the Zhongguan Police Station on August 8, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong. It is unknown where she is detained. 

28. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liao Hui Persecuted

Mr. Liao Hui from Wuchang District was reported to police for distributing truth-clarifying materials and was arrested by officers from the Baishazhou Police Station on March 16, 2020. His home was ransacked. He was released on bail pending trial around midnight that night. 

Mr. Liao has been harassed constantly by local community staff members and local police officers since then. 

Mr. Liao was summoned to the Baishazhou Police Station on the evening of December 28, 2020, and was taken to the Zhongnan Hospital to undergo a physical examination. He was detained one night in the police station. He was taken to the Wuchang District Detention Center around 9 a.m. the next day. After waiting outside for more than half a day, he was released around 2 or 3 p.m. 

Mr. Liao’s case was submitted to the Wuchang District Procuratorate by officers from the Baishazhou Police Station in early 2021. 

Mr. Liao received a call from the Baishazhou Police Station on the afternoon of June 28, 2021. He was told that his residential surveillance status was canceled and he was released on bail pending trial. He was told to go to the police station to sign the related documents. 

However, when he went to the police station around 8 a.m. the next day, he was told that he would be taken to get vaccinated, which he firmly rejected. Three officers including Xu forcefully took him to the No.7 Hospital of Wuhan City to undergo a physical examination and to get vaccinated. He was taken to the Wuchang District Detention Center around 2 p.m. His physical examination was handed over and he had a CT scan in the detention center. He was returned to the police station after 8 p.m. that day and was then released.
