A Disabled Girl’s Renewed Life

(Minghui.org) Chen Lian is 35 years old. She was born disabled to parents in a farming village. She has severe cataracts, no eyebrows, and no hair. 

Lian attended school when was she was old enough, but dropped out after learning the letters “a, o, e,” because she could not see what was written on the blackboard.

Predestined Relationship with Dafa

She started to take care of her grandmother with her aunt’s help during her teen years. Her aunt practiced Falun Dafa and would often read the book Zhuan Falun to her and her grandmother. After listening to her aunt read the book for a while, she told her aunt that she wanted to read the book Zhuan Falun as well. That was in 1999. After being given a copy of the book, Lian was surprised to find that she recognized many characters. She was able to read Zhuan Falun a short time later and then was able to read the five Hong Yin books and Master Li’s (Dafa’s founder) other books. 

Lian became well-known for the way she took care of her grandmother. She became so famous in her village that someone from the city came to the village to ask Lian to take care of an elderly person who was over 90. The person wanted Lian to be a home aide. If it weren’t for Lian’s kind heart, how could a disabled person be a suitable hire? Lian eventually moved to the city and started to take care of that elderly person.

After a while, Lian decided to switch jobs and she started to work at a food processing factory that made Chinese dumplings. 

She’d never slack off during work and would always arrive early and leave late. If she saw anyone with unfinished work, she’d voluntarily help them out. She later worked at a fish processing factory and then at a massage parlor. Because the environment was clean and neat, Lian decided to stay at the massage parlor permanently. She has now been working there for more than a decade, and during that time, she occasionally read Zhuan Falun and tried to be a better person. 

Due to the pandemic last year, Lian had to stay home. She felt that the life she had been living was tiring, and she wanted to cultivate Falun Dafa. Her aunt also often reminded her to read Zhuan Falun. Lian thus embarked on a cultivation journey. 

Becoming a Cultivator

Falun Dafa unlocked Lian’s wisdom and her massage skills constantly improved. Her customer base also grew. She improved her xinxing at work and would look inward when she encountered problems. In the past, she’d hold grudges against people who treated her badly, or when her colleagues purposely called her out so they could steal her customers. After cultivation, she stopped arguing with her colleagues and feigned ignorance. She paid little attention to fame and material interests.

Lian refused tips from her customers. If her customers really wanted to tip her, she’d donate the money. At times, if her hands were full with too many customers, she’d recommend the customers see other massage therapists. In society nowadays, people do anything to make money, but Lian would tell her customers to save their money and not to come back if they are feeling better after a massage treatment. 

She also clarified the truth to her customers and was even reported to the police on one occasion. She once gave two of her friends a USB with Master Li’s audio lectures. One of her friends thought it was good and recommended it to her dad, while the other friend stopped suffering from insomnia after listening to Master’s lectures. 

Lian lives with and takes care of her brother and nephew in the city. They tended to reprimand Lian and treat her badly. Although Lian felt their behavior was unfair, she knew that she had to abide by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and be a better person. Her brother and nephew gradually changed for the better.

Lian said, “It seems like anything I want to do comes true.” For example, she had a wish to buy a house for her parents, and true enough, she bought a house for her parents four years ago and they moved to the city. Her family had been the poorest in the village because Lian was disabled, and her parents had always felt very ashamed. After moving to the city, their lives improved and they felt more at ease.

Lian wished to find a place to live that was closer to her workplace. Soon enough, she found an ideal place and an ideal job working from 8 am to 5 pm at night. Her hopes to find Master’s portrait also came true.

Lian’s family lives in harmony now, and the environment at her workplace has also improved. In the past, her colleagues would fight for personal gain and profit, but after Lian started to cultivate Falun Dafa, everyone trusted her and even said that she looked prettier.

Lian has also started to grow some black hair. She said that this was all because of Dafa. 

Lian introduced Dafa to her mother. At night, Lian reads Zhuan Falun and then works some side jobs sewing. This could not have been possible in the past, and after seeing her changes, Lian’s mother praised Dafa sincerely, and said, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!”

Lian feels better on a holistic level after cultivating Dafa, and she said it was like she was renewed mentally and physically. She has found the true meaning of life.
