(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that Ms. Dang Baofen, 67, has been sentenced to four years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Dang, of Shulan City, Jilin Province, was arrested on May 13, 2021, two days after she was harassed by the police. No detail of her sentencing is available at the time of writing.
Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, Ms. Dang has been repeatedly arrested and also served three terms of forced labor.
Ms. Dang was first arrested in July 1999 when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was given one year at the Heizuizi Women’s Forced Labor Camp.
Shortly after she was released, she went to Beijing again in 2001 to appeal, only to be arrested and given another two years of forced labor.
Ms. Dang’s third arrest was on September 15, 2005 and she was held at a brainwashing center located in a water reservoir.
Her next arrest was on August 18, 2008, by officers of the Nancheng Police Station. She was given another one-year term at the Heizuizi Women’s Forced Labor Camp. While serving time, she was forced to get up at 5:20 a.m. and work until 7 p.m. every day. When the labor camp received more orders, she and other inmates were forced to work overtime. The guards only gave everyone a few minutes for each meal before ordering them to resume work.
As a result of the intensive labor, Ms. Dang suffered severe pain in her eyes. When she asked for a break, guard Jiang Lijun said the way she could have a break was to watch propaganda videos smearing Falun Gong. Ms. Dang refused to comply and was slapped in the face by Jiang. Jiang then put Ms. Dang in solitary confinement, cuffed her arms to a bunker bed and deprived her of restroom use.
When Ms. Dang’s term expired on August 18, 2009, the labor camp extended her term three times, for a total of 27 days.
On her way back from visiting a relative in Yunnan Province on September 13, 2018, Ms. Dang was stopped by the security personnel at Longjia Train Station in Changchun and had her bag searched. Upon seeing Falun Gong books in her bag, the security personnel arrested her and took her to the Weizigou Lockup for a 15-day detention.
