(Minghui.org) After serving nine years and losing her job for practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Mo Liqiong is facing prosecution again after she was arrested while walking on the street.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Mo, 51, went back to her hometown in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province in early February 2021 to spend the Chinese New Year with her parents and son.
She was walking on the street in Jinbi Village at around 9:00 p.m. on February 5, 2021, when several officers suddenly stopped her and took her to their police station. The police claimed that she had a black bag, which contained a few copies of Falun Gong booklets. They also searched the home Ms. Mo’s parents, but didn’t find anything related to Falun Gong.
The police submitted her case to the Yuhu District Procuratorate in early May. While in detention, Ms. Mo wrote a letter to them saying that she was just passing by that village when she was arrested, and that she didn’t have any such black bag with her at the time.
Ms. Mo has been arrested multiple times since the communist regime ordered the persecution in 1999. She was arrested on August 25, 2003 and later sentenced to nine years in the Hunan Province Women’s Prison. During her prison term, the Xiangtan Textile Printing and Dyeing Factory fired her, and her husband also divorced her.
Ms. Mo moved to Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province in 2017, after finding a job there as a financial manager. Her son stays with her parents in Xiangtan. She often goes back to visit them.
