(Minghui.org) Master protects and looks over every practitioner on the path of cultivation. I would like to share some cultivation stories about my son and how we’ve witnessed the magnificence of Master and Dafa.
My son, Huhu (pseudonym), would not be alive today if not for Dafa. Modern science and medicine were unable to cure or explain the cause of his illnesses. After cultivating Falun Dafa, Huhu’s ailments left him. I hope sentient beings can learn the truth about Falun Dafa and be blessed!
Huhu had many tribulations from the time he was born. Doctors diagnosed him with jaundice and were about to take him away from me since he needed to be hospitalized. I asked, “I am breastfeeding Huhu now. What will happen to him when you take him away from me?” A doctor said they would feed him formula. When I asked what I should do with my breastmilk, the doctor said impatiently, “You can either pump it out or throw it away. We don’t care!” I was in shock and refused to let them take Huhu.
They wanted me to sign a waiver stating that they wouldn’t be responsible if anything happened to Huhu. I signed it without giving it a second thought. Huhu started to develop red bumps all over his body and crust started to form on his eyes after a couple of days. I remained unmoved and continued wiping him down with a damp cloth every day. The bumps were gone in a few days.
We listened to “Pudu,” “Jishi,” and Master’s audio lectures when we got home from the hospital. I also recited “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” many times. Huhu’s jaundice disappeared in a week.
When Huhu was about 37 days old, he was crying all the time. It was so bad that the neighbors were complaining. My father suggested that Huhu get a check-up. I had no choice but to take him to the doctor. I was shocked at how many tests Huhu had to do. Not only were they costly, but they were also very unpleasant for Huhu, and he cried hysterically.
In the end, the doctors were unable to figure out why Huhu was constantly crying and advised me to take him to another doctor.
The new doctor was nicer and seemed friendlier than the previous doctors. She asked, “Is Huhu your first baby?” I nodded. She continued, “You need to be mentally prepared. Your son might be mentally disabled...”
I interrupted her, thanked her, and walked out of the office with my son in my arms. Once outside, I burst into tears and told my husband what the doctor said. I said, “Let’s go home. It doesn’t matter what the doctor told me because I don’t believe her. Only Master has the final say!”
I took great care of Huhu when I got home and listened to Master’s lectures. In my spare time, I would sing, play games, and make him happy when he cried. When I returned to the hospital three months later, the doctor said that Huhu was developing well and his only issue was that he was underweight. The doctor suggested that I do an allergy test to see if Huhu was allergic to anything. We found out that Huhu had a milk protein allergy. We bought expensive milk formula for Huhu until he was able to eat solid foods. Huhu was getting better by the day and soon turned one year old.
Right after Huhu’s first birthday, he had roseola. I was calmer and clearheaded since my colleagues told me that it was a common infection in children. We did not go to the hospital, and his fever broke in three days. When Huhu was about 18 months old, my father, who was babysitting Huhu at the time, called me and told me to come home immediately. When I got there, my father said, “Huhu has a fever and started to have spasms. He lost consciousness for about a minute and both your mother and I panicked.” My father told me to take Huhu back to the hospital. I had no choice but to take Huhu to the hospital once again. The doctor diagnosed the spasms as febrile seizures and told me that Huhu needed treatment. I paid no attention to the doctor and took Huhu home.
We listened to Master’s lectures and I taught him how to recite “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” Huhu recovered in no time.
Over the next two years, Huhu would often have the symptoms of febrile seizures. I would panic and get nervous whenever Huhu had a fever. One time, Huhu’s body went stiff and white foam dribbled from his mouth. I was terrified and recited “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” continuously. I asked Master for help and knew that only Master could save him. I am grateful to Master from the bottom of my heart. Master has saved my child from the brink of death each time and no words can express my utmost gratitude!
After this series of events, I thought to myself: Even though Huhu has been to the hospital numerous times over the years, he has not taken any medicine. Life is unpredictable and it is hard to say what will happen next.
Master said,
“There is another way to change one’s life, and this is the only way: It is that this person takes the path of cultivation practice from now on.” (Lecture Two, Zhuan Falun)
I thus decided to guide Huhu, who was three years old at the time, on the path of cultivation.
We started to recite poems from Hong Yin and I said, “Let’s see if you can memorize the poem after reciting it three times.” He seemed interested and wanted to give it a try. Huhu managed to memorize the first poem after reading it three times. I was touched and praised him for his efforts.
We memorized three to five poems every day and eventually began memorizing poems from Hong Yin III. I later realized that Huhu hadn’t had a fever in six months. As the saying goes, “the appearance stems from the mind.” Perhaps I worried too much about Huhu’s fevers—several days later, he had a fever again.
He did not have any seizures this time and only lost his appetite. He also vomited a lot of white mucus and I understood that Master was cleansing his body. I knew Huhu’s life had been changed now that he had become a young Dafa disciple. I told him, “Huhu, don’t be scared. Master is cleansing your body. You will be fine. Though it may be uncomfortable during the process, you need to be strong.” Huhu seemed to understand what I said and nodded.
Master purified Huhu’s body twice, and I noticed a change in Huhu’s body. He became healthier and less of a picky eater. He looked very thin in the past, but after preparing several different types of dishes that he liked, Huhu gained weight. His allergies were gone and he became a much healthier little boy. Master knew that Huhu would not be able to endure all of these sufferings, so Master purified Huhu’s body little by little. Master has endured a lot for Huhu!
Huhu has not had a fever since then and he is now 10 years old. Cultivation isn’t about getting rid of one’s illness and staying fit. Instead, it is a process of returning to one’s original true self. Xinxing tribulations started to surface as Huhu became healthier.
I picked up Huhu from kindergarten one day, and when we got home I saw bite marks on his arms. His arm was all bruised and I asked what happened. He told me that the teacher’s daughter had bitten him. I was heartbroken and asked it if hurt. He told me that it hurt a lot at first, but as soon as he recited “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” the pain lessened. I was truly happy for Huhu. Not only could he consider others, he could also endure pain. I knew that Master had helped Huhu with the pain.
I took Huhu to a kids’ play area one time and heard a little boy tell a little girl, “Go hit Huhu.” Sure enough, the little girl started throwing punches at Huhu. Huhu was startled and froze on the spot. I called Huhu over and asked if it hurt. He told me, “It hurt at first, but after a while I did not feel anything. I just kept reciting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” I knew Master was protecting Huhu once again.
Huhu tripped and fell during a dance class when he was in second grade. He hurt his back and told his teacher that he needed to take a break. His teacher told him sternly that he needed to go back to dance class. Huhu felt wronged but still managed to do some of the dance movements. Huhu began to tear up and told me what had happened when he got home. I decided to explain Huhu’s situation to the teacher in a text message. To my disbelief, the teacher started to blame me and criticized Huhu for lying. In the days to come, the teacher started to pick on Huhu. She would not let Huhu drink water or go to the bathroom. She had other students bully him, would not let him take breaks, and punished him by making him stand against the wall.
Huhu was constantly being picked on by his friends, and none of his classmates would talk to him. Huhu was only seven years old then. It was very hard for me to see all this happening, let alone take Huhu to school every day. I tried my best to maintain a calm mind, and I studied the Fa with Huhu.
Master said,
“To endure with anger, grievance, or tears is the forbearance of an everyday person who is attached to his concerns. To endure completely without anger or grievance is the forbearance of a cultivator.” (“What is Forbearance (Ren)?” Essentials for Further Advancement)
Huhu said, “Mom, I know what to do now. I shouldn’t take things to heart.”
I replied, “Yes, let’s overcome this tribulation together. There is only a month left of school before winter break. Let’s persist for another month.” Huhu nodded.
The teacher criticized Huhu at the end of the year on his report card. However, this time, my heart remained unmoved. As cultivators, we should not be moved by ordinary people. Everything that happens is a way for a cultivator to eliminate karma. I asked for Huhu to be transferred to another class at the end of second grade and we never encountered a teacher like her again.
Huhu and I upgraded our xinxing during this process and matured a lot in cultivation. Not only has Huhu stayed healthy, but he is also very kind and has a good appetite. We are very happy and regard all of the tribulations we face as a way to upgrade ourselves in cultivation. We abide by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance every day and live our lives to the fullest.
