(Minghui.org) A Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province resident was recently sentenced to one year and five months for raising awareness about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Sheng Li, 46, owns an export company in Shenzhen. She began practicing Falun Gong in August 2019 and her critical illness disappeared soon after.
Amazed by her positive experience with Falun Gong, Ms. Sheng began to share her story with people and raise awareness about the persecution in a park, only to be recorded by surveillance camera.
She was arrested by officers from the Baoan District Police Station on May 19, 2020. The police turned her home upside down and confiscated her computer, music player and other belongings.
Ms. Sheng was first held at the Baoan Detention Center and then transferred to the Nanshan District Detention Center on September 8, 2020. She was tried by the Nanshan District Court on May 18, 2021 and sentenced to 17 months with a 2,000-yuan fine.
