1. [Neijiang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Liu Jian Taken to Prison

Mr. Liu Jian, 68, from Zizhong County, had been arrested, held in custody or otherwise abused seven times since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecuted Falun Gong in July 1999.

Around November 20, 2019, Mr. Liu was arrested and his home ransacked by Zizhong County Domestic Security officers. He was tried by the Zizhong County Court in mid-May 2020. He was sentenced to a six-year-and-six-month prison term in mid-June. He appealed to the Neijiang City Intermediate Court, which rejected his appeal and upheld the original verdict.

Both Mr. Liu's family and himself filed complaints with authorities in October, but the court still upheld the original verdict. He was taken to the Leshan Prison on November 20.

2. [Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Three practitioners were tried via video link by the Xiufeng District Court on the afternoon of December 1, 2020. No lawyers were allowed to defend them during the trial.

Ms. Qin Xiaoping was sentenced to a two-year-and-six-month prison term, Ms. Wu Guixian to a three-year prison term, and elderly Tang (gender unknown) to a four-year-and-three-month (or it could be three-year-and-three-month) prison term.

3. [Junan County, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

The case of 61-year-old Ms. Yang Guangzhen was turned over to the Junan County Procuratorate in October. It has been nearly a month since her case was transferred to the Linshu County Procuratorate.

She was arrested by officers from the Junan County Domestic Security Division and the Chengxi Police Station in April 2020. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated much of her personal property. She was forced to sign the bail document and was released the following day.

After her release, officials monitored and followed her and her sister Ms. Yang Guang’e.

They arrested Ms. Mao Dejun, Ms. Wang Fengxia, Ms. Wei Ben’e, Ms. Yang Guang’e, Ms. Yang’s husband, and three non-practitioners (Ms. Yang’s younger sister, her brother-in-law, and a tailor who often goes to her home to make clothes) at around 6 a.m. on August 11.

The officials tried but failed to arrest Ms. Yang Guangzhen and Ms. Chen Hanwei.

During this round of arrests, Ms. Mao was officially placed under arrest and tried. She is still being held in the Linyi City Detention Center. Ms. Wang, Ms. Wei, and Ms. Yang were detained for 10 days.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Qiuping Facing Trial

Ms. Wang Qiuping will be tried via video link at the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Center at 9 a.m. on December 9, 2020.

5. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xia Jingmin Harassed

Principal Shang Shumin of Mingde Primary School in Quyang County pressured Ms. Xia Jingmin, a teacher at the school, to give up her belief in Falun Gong on the grounds of pressure from higher-level officials. He threatened to stop paying her wages and dismiss her from the job.

6. [Chongqing] Mr. Zhu Defu Abused in Brainwashing Center

Mr. Zhu Defu, 80, is from Tongguanyi Town, Jiulongpo District. Over the course of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, he was sentenced to prison and sent to a brainwashing centers several times.

In order to take care of his wife, Mr. Zhu moved to his daughter’s home where his wife stayed. He was harassed several times by police officers led by director Liu Derong of Tongguanyi Town Comprehensive Management Office.

Director Liu and officer Xiong Yingjie went to his daughter’s home in mid-November and pressured Mr. Zhu to sign some paperwork.

On the morning of November 24, seven officials went to her home and again pressured Mr. Zhu to sign paperwork. He resolutely refused. They took him to the town brainwashing center that day. He went on a hunger strike. After being locked in a small room, the officials shined a one-kilowatt strong lightbulb into his eyes.

At 6 p.m. on November 26, he was examined by a doctor and taken home at 9 p.m.

7. [Chongqing] Mr. Ren Dongchuan Placed Under Residential Surveillance, Harassed and Abused

Personnel from the Xipeng Town government in Jiulongpo District installed a surveillance camera outside Mr. Ren Dongchuan’s door on September 11, 2020. He has since been placed under residential surveillance.

Mr. Ren unplugged the power cord from the camera the following evening. On the morning of September 13, six or seven officers led by director Zhao Fuhua of the Xipeng Town Police Station pried opened his door, entered his home, handcuffed him, and forced him to squat on the ground. They ransacked his home. Two officers took Mr. Ren to the police station. Residential officer Li Kai slapped him in the face.

At the police station, Mr. Ren was handcuffed to an iron chair for 24 hours.

He was released from the chair at around 10 a.m. the following day. Director Pan of the town government and other officials talked to him and told him to sign some papers. He refused. He returned home around 12 noon.

8. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Bai Fengqin Harassed Several Times

A staff member from the Dongsheng Community in Pingfang District called Ms. Bai Fengqin’s husband around 10 a.m. on November 18, 2020, and said that the superiors demanded that he and his wife sign some paperwork. Ms. Bai refused.

Community personnel and police officers went to Ms. Bai’s home on the morning of November 30. They knocked on the door for a while and left.

A community staff member called her husband again on the morning of December 3 and asked where his daughter lives and where she works, on the grounds of conducting a census.

Director Feng and staff member Shen from the Dongsheng Community went to her daughter’s workplace on the afternoon of December 3 and told her to sign three statements on her mother’s behalf. She refused.

9. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Gangli Arrested

Ms. Liu Gangli was arrested on December 8, 2020.

10. [Shijiazhuang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Gui Fang Taken to Detention Center

Ms. Gui Fang from Gaocheng District was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of December 4, 2020. She was arrested and taken to the Liangcun Economic and Technological Development Zone Police Station. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Shijiazhuang Detention Center the following day.

11. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Zhixiong Facing a Second Trial

Mr. Yang Zhixiong from Xiong County has been held in the Xiong County Detention Center for over a year. He will be tried for the second time soon.

12. [Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Zhanfeng Taken to Brainwashing Center

Four officers from the Shuangta Police Station broke into Mr. Li Zhanfeng’s home in Yongle Village at around 7:50 a.m. on December 8, 2020.

Mr. Li was taken to the village committee at first, and then to the Donghe Village Brainwashing Center.

13. [Xunke County, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Che Guohong Facing Trial

Practitioner Che Guohong (gender unknown) will be tried on December 11, 2020. Justice lawyer Wang Yajun from Beijing received threats from the Heihe City Justice Bureau, saying they would give his law firm a hard time. Wang had to drop Che’s case as result of the threats. Another lawyer is now representing Che Guohong.

14. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Xiuzhen Arrested

Ms. Sun Xiuzhen’s son said that his mother was arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong. Her current situation is not clear.

15. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhai Yanan Taken to Prison

Ms. Zhai Yanan, 65, was taken to the Anhui Province Women’s Prison in November 2020.

16. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Gangli Arrested Again

Five officers including Sun Hongliang from the Qimalu Police Station broke into Ms. Liu Gangli’s home and arrested her in the afternoon of December 8, 2020. She was taken to a hospital for a blood test.

Ms. Liu was reported to the police while distributing Falun Gong materials on February 2, 2020. She was arrested and taken to the police station. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Dafa books and printed materials.

Due to the epidemic, the detention center refused to accept her. She returned home after paying 5,000 yuan for bail. In June she got the 5,000 yuan back. Officer Sun Hongliang told her family that Ms. Liu's release on bail pending trial had changed to residential surveillance, which ended in July. At the end of her residential surveillance, her family brought a copy of her national ID card to the police station.

In November, officer Sun called her family again and told them that Ms. Liu had to report to the police station immediately whenever they called, otherwise she could be arrested.

17. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Nie Jing Taken to Prison

Ms. Nie Jing was transferred from the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on November 27, 2020.

18. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Sujuan Harassed Again

Two officers from the Chaoluowo Township Police Station in Yutian County harassed Ms. Wang Sujuan in Chaoluowo Village again on December 7, 2020. They asked her if she was still practicing Falun Gong. When she answered yes, the officers left.

Two officers came to her home again at noon on December 6 and told her to fill out a form, but she refused.

19. [Renqiu City, Hebei Province] Ms. Tian Dongmei Harassed Several Times

Two men who claimed to be from the residential committee harassed Ms. Tian Dongmei and attempted to videotape her with small video recorders on the morning of December 7, 2020. Ms. Tian did not cooperate. They called Ms. Tian’s husband and lied, saying that they were only conducting a census.

Two people who claimed to be from the residential committee, pretended to be conducting a census, and harassed Ms. Tian again the following morning. When they were told that the census had already been conducted, the two lied that they were here for a random check as required by the Audit Bureau.

20. [Tianjin] Mr. Bai Dianshuang and Ms. Yang Shufen Harassed

People from the Fangjiazhuang Police Station and the township government pressured Mr. Bai Dianshuang to sign paperwork, and threatened to deprive his relatives of jobs if he did not sign.

They also harassed Ms. Yang Shufen and tried to force her to sign statements to give up her belief.

21. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Lanshen Arrested

Ms. Li Lanshen, alias Ms. Li Guifang, from the High-tech Development Zone, was arrested by officers from the Liangcun Development Zone Police Station while distributing Falun Gong materials in Beiyi Village on December 3, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was placed in criminal detention at the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center.

22. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Jingyi Harassed

Officers from the Shuguang Road Police Station in Nanguan District went to Ms. Li Jingyi’s home on November 26, 2020. Ms. Li was not at home. They told her husband to go to the police station.

23. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. He Jingxin Harassed

Four people including officer Lu Gang from the 610 Office, and a team Party secretary from the Security Section of the No. 2 Mine Oilfield, No. 6 Oil Production Plant, continued to harass Ms. He Jingxin on December 7, 2020.

They threatened that she had to sign guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong and be recorded and videotaped, telling her that otherwise she would be dismissed from her job.

24. [Shanghai] Ms. Xu Huanming Arrested

Elderly Ms. Xu Huanming, a retired elementary school teacher from Changning District, went for a walk in Zhongshan Park on November 29, 2020. About ten plainclothes officers from the Changning District 610 Office swarmed her and arrested her while she was talking to people about Falun Gong.

The officers pried opened her door, ransacked the place, and confiscated Falun Dafa books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Xu returned home that day.

25. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Bai Tao Arrested

Practitioner Bai Tao (gender unknown) from Gaojiaying Town in Chongli District was arrested at home by five or six Chongli District police officers on the afternoon of December 8, 2020. The officers ransacked Bai’s home and confiscated Falun Dafa books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

26. [Shanghai] Ms. Tang Liandi’s Pension Suspended

Ms. Tang Liandi from Yangpu District suddenly received a notice of suspension of pension, stating that she was sentenced to three years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. The government will deduct her pension for three years.

27. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Chen Guangyun Arrested

Ms. Chen Guangyun was arrested by the Xiangzhou District police on November 24, 2020.

28. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Shiying Arrested

Ms. Liu Shiying, in her 60s, from Jiulongpo District, was arrested at home on December 5, 2020. The specific reason is unknown.

29. [Linfen City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Xie Xiaohu Arrested

Mr. Xie Xiaohu, 63, from Quwo County, was arrested at home on the afternoon of December 8, 2020. The police officers took some so-called evidence from his home. Mr. Xie is being held in the Wenmiao Police Station, Yingze District, Taiyuan City.

30. [Shanghai] Ms. Qin Hongxian’s Case Turned Over to Procuratorate

Ms. Qin Hongxian, 68, from Chuansha Town, the Pudong New Area, has long been monitored by the Pudong Domestic Security Division, which made use of big data.

When she went to Baoshan District to meet with other practitioners on July 21, 2020, officers from the Pudong Domestic Security Division and the Baoshan Police Station suddenly showed up and arrested her. Ms. Qin was transferred to the Chuansha Police Station. She refused to sign their paperwork. She was released on bail for one year, and returned home that day.

The police continued to use big data to collect information on Ms. Qin. Her case was turned over to the Pudong Procuratorate. In early December, the procuratorate notified her that she had been charged.

31. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Qiao Guiying Arrested

Ms. Qiao Guiying and eight other practitioners were arrested by the political commissar and a group of officers of the Pingding Police Department while they were studying Falun Dafa teachings together on the afternoon of August 2, 2020. She was taken to a brainwashing center the following day, and held there for half a month.

Wang Yinhua, head of the Pingding Domestic Security Division, called Ms. Qiao in mid-September and forced her to go to the police department for questioning.

Officer Feng went to Ms. Qiao’s home on the evening of October 22 and notified her that the head of the Domestic Security Division demanded that she go to the police department the next day.

32. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Pan Xueming Mistreated in Detention Center

Ms. Pan Xueming, 63. from Lily Mountain Villa, was arrested on July 10, 2019. She has been held in the Dalian Detention Center for well over a year.

She was held in the No. 4-12 Cell, where she could not step out. In addition, she was interrogated by officers from the police department and procuratorate. She was traumatized. Her family could not send her clothes, which added to her hardship.

Ms. Pan has recently developed serious physical problems and cannot sustain the compulsory detention.
