(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 29 cities or counties in 14 provinces, where at least 76 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Former President Yang Shulin of the Xintang Township Hospital and former Deputy Mayor Cai Baoxin (gender unknown) of Mahuiling Town were being held in the Ruichang City Detention Center in October 2020. They were sentenced to prison in recent days. Mr. Yang was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison and Cai to a year and six months.
Officers from the Pengli Police Station and the Bincheng District Domestic Security Division broke into the homes of Mr. Yu Zhong and Ms. Geng Jianfen in the Bincheng District and ransacked them during a recent harassment campaign. The practitioners were released after each paid 20,000 yuan in bail. Their cases have been turned over to the district procuratorate.
Ms. Zhao Xiuzhen’s case was also turned over to the district procuratorate.
Mr. Wang Aisheng, a teacher at Chifeng No. 4 Middle School, and Ms. Song Guohua, a teacher at Chifeng No. 3 Middle School, in the Hongshan District refused to sign the three statements as required by the 610 Office and the Bairin Left Banner Education Bureau, where they originally worked.
The Hongshan District Education Bureau gave the two teachers three choices on November 24: 1) Sign the three statements, 2) Voluntarily tender their resignations, or 3) Face dismissal from their jobs.
Principals of both schools talked with the two practitioners, who resisted the persecution, and as a result were told to stop teaching. Principal Song Xicheng of the No. 3 Middle School notified the guards at the two school gates that if Ms. Song wanted to enter, they had to report to him for instructions.
Mr. Xie Jianxin and his wife Ms. Zhao Renyuan were tried at 9:00 a.m. on November 6, 2020, in the Guilin Intermediate Court after being held in custody for nine months. During the trial, they told how they had benefited from practicing Falun Gong for many years. Lawyer Cheng Hai defended them.
Officers from the Qixing Police Department knocked on the couple’s door in the middle of the night on February 5, 2020, pretending they were there to take temperatures since the pandemic was spreading. They arrested the couple instead.
Ms. Wang Queque was harassed twice at home by members of the Hanjiaji Community in the Youxian District and a residential police officer in 2020.
The first time, three or four community members and a residential police officer broke into her home and pressured her to sign paperwork. They then deducted one thousand yuan from her pension every month, forcing her husband to sign in acknowledgment.
In early November, five or six of these people broke into her home and harassed her, saying that they would deduct 2,000 yuan from her pension every month.
Ms. Wan was previously sentenced to three years in prison and was severely tortured.
Based on a blacklist compiled by the authorities, the Baoding City Political and Legal Affairs Committee went after Falun Gong practitioners in villages and towns in Wangdu County as part of its “zero-out” campaign.
On November 25, 2020, Ms. Chen Junqing from Nancaozhuang Village, Ms. Wang Xiangju from Taihezhuang Village, Ms. Wang Cuiyan and Ms. Liu Qiuzhen from Liutuo Village, Ms. Sun Jingsu and Ms. Li Huiqing from Xijia Village in Jiacun Town, and Ms. Sun Xingkun from Zhangguo Village in Zhonghanzhuang Township were harassed at home. Since June 24, these seven practitioners have been harassed by village Party secretaries, township government staff members, and police officers on numerous occasions.
Deputy Party secretary Liu Kefei of Jiacun Town and three others went to Ms. Sun Xingkun’s home on the morning of November 24, saying that they were there to help “transform” her. They told her they would remove her name from the blacklist, as long as she agreed not to practice Falun Gong, not to gather with other practitioners, and not to distribute Falun Gong informational materials. They threatened they would come often if she refused.
Liutuo Village officials called Ms. Wang Cuiyan around 8 a.m. on November 25 and told her that higher officials would come to see her. Ms. Wang told them not to.
Xijia Village officials deceived Ms. Li Huiqing, convincing her to show up at the village office around 11 a.m. on November 25. They pressured her to agree not to practice Falun Gong, not to gather with other practitioners, and not to distribute Falun Gong informational materials. They also threatened that, if she continued to practice Falun Gong, her children would not be able to go to college or join the army. In the end, the township Party secretary, a village official, and her husband forced her to give her fingerprints. They then went to harass Ms. Sun Jingsu in the village.
At around 4:00 p.m. the village Party secretary called Ms. Chen Junqing and her son to the office and had her son sign the three statements on her behalf. They threatened her, saying that her son would not be able to go to college or join the army in the future. She replied that if her child could not be a soldier, he would go into business since her family owned a supermarket. The officials threatened to close down her supermarket.
Several people from the Jiucheng Town government, judicial office, and police station in Huanghua City went to Ms. Wang Haiyan’s home around 6 p.m. on July 3, 2020, and pressured her to sign paperwork, but she refused.
Six people went to her home again on the evening of September 8 and told her to sign paperwork. She did not cooperate.
On the evening of October 20, four people went to her home. They wanted to make a video of her and told her to pretend to be sick. They also put pressure on her son by threatening to cancel their household registration.
Four people went to her home again on the evening of November 14, saying that the video they had made was not good enough. They wanted to videotape her making a statement that she no longer practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Wang refused to cooperate.
They then threatened her son, claiming that their household registration would be canceled. They also threatened to go to Ms. Wang and her son’s employers. They said they would find her landlord and village head to get them evicted.
Ms. Wang’s son could not withstand the mounting pressure since the harassment started in July and went on through November.
Mr. Pan Peide from the Dianbai District was tried in the Maonan District Court on the morning of November 24, 2020.
Several plainclothes and police officers watched pedestrians at the court entrance and nearby. In the courtroom, other than his two sons, all seats were taken by Political and Legal Affairs Committee officials and plainclothes and Domestic Security officers. Soon after the trial began, the judge threatened the human rights lawyer who defended him not to mention Falun Gong.
Ms. Wu Youqing from Gaozhou City has been persecuted by the Gaozhou City 610 Office several times. She has been harassed, arrested, detained, held in a forced labor camp, sentenced, and fired from her job.
She hired human rights lawyer Xie Yanyi from Beijing to defend her. When the lawyer accompanied her to meet the heads of the Gaozhou Rural Commercial Bank around 11 a.m. on November 18, 2020, the taxi they were in was surrounded by eight police officers on four motorcycles. The officers ordered the taxi driver to open the trunk. They also searched the lawyer’s bag and took pictures.
After Ms. Bai Suhua, a teacher in Qinglong Town, Qinglong County, sued former head of the Chinese Communist Party Jiang Zemin, officials with the Education Bureau, the school headquarters, and the police station called her school several times and told those in charge to “transform” her and get her to sign the three statements. She never signed anything.
On November 13, 2020, for the fourth time, Liu Zeng from the school headquarters, principal Wang Kui from the town school, and Party secretary Zhang Hongpo from the Education Bureau found Ms. Bai at school. They tried to “transform” her and get her to sign the statements.
Ms. Bai wrote “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” on the paperwork. Infuriated, secretary Zhang threatened to host a brainwashing class for her, stop paying her salary, and fire her from her job. He also warned her that her children would not be able to enroll in college or join the army.
School director Zhang Xiuwen called Ms. Bai’s husband on November 14. Deceived and intimidated by the officials, her husband signed guarantee statements without telling her. Now her husband has written a solemn declaration voiding all the documents he signed.
Two people from Xuanpingbao Township in the Wanquan District went to Ms. Cui Zhanmei’s home and told her to write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong on October 5, 2020.
They went again on November 10, under the pretense of conducting a census. They told her husband Mr. Yan Yun, who is also a practitioner, to sign a piece of paper, saying that it was for the population survey.
That same day, Mr. Shi Zhonghai was also harassed. He was told to sign and write his national ID number on an empty form, saying that it was for the population survey.
Ms. Zhuang Huiqing and Ms. Chen Yonghui in Puning City were taken to the Puning City Detention Center on November 29, 2020.
Security director Ji Yongping from Huajiao Township called Mr. Li Yugui’s son on November 19, 2020, and told him to tell his father to go to the city to sign paperwork on November 25. Ji told Mr. Li’s son that this would remove his father’s name from the list of Falun Gong practitioners.
Ji went to the home of Mr. Li’s son two days later and threatened that, if his father did not sign, it would adversely impact three generations in the family. The authorities would not allow the children in the family to go to school or family members to go to work.
Ms. Liu Kuifang and practitioner Peng Shiping (gender unknown) were also harassed and ordered to sign paperwork. They refused to cooperate.
Elderly Liu, Zhang Baode, and Li Yuhua, who are no longer practicing Falun Gong as a result of the persecution, were also pressured to sign, but they all refused.
Ten people, including some who were non-practitioners, from the Huadian area were taken to the Jincheng Hotel Brainwashing Center on November 24.
When Ms. Wang Xiuying refused to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong, officials from the Wulongtang Township and Dongguanzhuang Village in Cang County continued to harass her. She was forced to leave home and became displaced.
Practitioner Wang Ying (gender unknown), over 30, was followed, arrested, and taken to a detention center. Wang was ordered to write the three statements. The police notified Wang’s family that Wang had been to the kidney hospital for treatment. Wang was not released. No family visits have been allowed.
Ms. Wang Minghui was arrested by officers from the Mingshan Domestic Security Division and has been held in Tianquan Detention Center for three months.
Officials keep pressuring her to admit that she is “guilty,” but she has firmly maintained her innocence. Her case was reviewed personally by Lan Kaichi, Party secretary of the Ya’an Municipal Party Committee.
Beginning in August 2020, the Shenyang Social Security Center stopped issuing pensions for several Falun Gong practitioners and demanded the return of pension payments they received while they were in prison.
Ms. Liu Tingxiu’s employer called her on August 20. She was told to get her release certificate from prison and that her pension would be stopped as of that month.
The Social Security Center demanded that she make up the 34,000 yuan in pension funds she received during the three years she was in prison, plus some other deductions.
Ms. Wang Shuxian has been retired for many years. She was notified by her employer in August that her pension was suspended. She was told to return the pension payments she received while she was in prison.
Community personnel called Ms. Du Mujing’s husband around 9 a.m. on November 27, 2020, saying that they were conducting a census.
A female staff member had Ms. Du’s husband fill in personal information on the census form and sign it. Ms. Du was not at home.
Around 10 a.m. a few more staff members knocked on the door, but no one was at home. They called Ms. Du’s husband again and said they wanted his wife to sign the three statements. Only then did her husband realized that he had been tricked to sign the form.
At around 9 a.m. on December 1, they made multiple phone calls to harass the couple.
Director Zhao Ziyan from the township police station, three officers, and seven or eight community personnel went to Mr. Zhang Jingfu’s home around 10 a.m. on November 27, 2020. They told him to sign three statements, but he refused to. Zhao threatened to take Mr. Zhang to a brainwashing center if he did not cooperate.
Ms. Guo Guilan returned to the gate of the community from grocery shopping around 10 a.m. on November 19, 2020. A dozen police officers surrounded and arrested her.
The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a desk calendar and two keepsakes. There was a surveillance monitor in her home. The officers erased the video footage.
She was taken to the Tongxin Police Station. The police interrogated her until the evening before releasing her.
Jintai Community personnel in the Songbei District have repeatedly knocked on Mr. Xu Guohua’s door and harassed him since August this year. They pressured him to sign the three statements, but he refused. The harassment frightened an 80-year-old in the family.
Officers from the Gangkoujie Town Police Station in the Chaisang District used a landline to harass Ms. Shi Liping’s family on November 17, 2020. They told her family to persuade her to quit practicing Falun Dafa.
A few days later, Liu Xiuying with the Gangkou Residential Committee harassed Ms. Shi’s family over the phone.
Six officers from the Qilihu Police Station broke into Ms. Zhu Caixia’s home around 3 p.m. on August 12. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, an audio recorder, and all Dafa items.
The officers took her to the police station and held her for 24 hours. She was taken to the hospital for a blood test the next day. Doctors said that she had lung problems. She was released.
Ms. Yan Shumin, 61, from the Yongjinxing Residential Community, Tiancun Town in the Haidian District, was arrested on November 9, 2020. She was sentenced to one year and six months in prison.
Jinmei Village official Wang Xingsheng and two plainclothes officers went to the home of Ms. Liu Zufang in the No. 5 Commune. They told Ms. Liu, who is 80 years old, not to practice Falun Gong anymore. They also slandered Falun Gong and took pictures of her.
Chen Fazhong, head of the No. 5 Commune, called Ms. Liu’s daughter-in-law and told her to keep an eye on Ms. Liu and prevent her from meeting with other Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Jiang Yexiu, in her 60s, also lives in the No. 5 Commune. Around March this year, she was reported to the police for having printing equipment in her home. Two plainclothes officers came to her home, harassed her, and searched the house. They even took pictures under the bed.
In early November 2020, Wu Xiangjian and other officers from the county 610 Office and security personnel from residential communities in the county went to Ms. Yang Xiurong’s home. They pressured her to sign the three statements. When she refused to, they forced her daughter to sign them.
They then forced Ms. Hou Meixiu’s husband to sign the statements. They also forced practitioner Wang Yi’s daughter to sign the statements. They went to the homes of Ms. Tan Meihua and Mr. Li Yunpei and took pictures with their cell phones.
Officials with the Baiyin City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office continued to harass Falun Gong practitioners within the city and its surrounding areas, including the Pingchuan District and Huining County in the ongoing “zero-out” campaign.
Ms. Liao An’an, in her 80s, was harassed at home several times. The officials threatened to fire her son from his job if she did not sign paperwork. They warned her that her grandson’s education and job prospects would be adversely impacted. Her pension was canceled several years ago.
Mr. Zhang Guangli was harassed at home. He left home and became displaced.
Director Cao Wei of the Majing Town Comprehensive Management Office and a member of the 610 Office went to Ms. Liu Guangqiu’s home in the No. 3 Team on the evening of October 27, 2020. They pressured her to sign a guarantee statement, but she refused.
They then warned her that, if she did not sign, her and her husband’s pensions would be reduced. They forced her husband to slap her in the face and grab her hand to sign.
Over ten people from the Baiyin City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Pingchuan District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the Baoji Town Neighboring Administration Office harassed Xu Xuejun (gender unknown), Ms. Wang Xinghui, Ms. Zhang Xiuling, Ms. Hou Cuilan, Ms. Guo Lianqing, Ms. Ren Wanrong, Ms. Li Fenglan, and Ms. Gao Zhixiang four times.
The community and judicial office personnel even went to Lanzhou City to locate practitioners and pressure them to write the three statements.
Cheng Guo and others from the Huai’an County Economic and Trade Bureau went to Ms. Ma Rong’s home around 10 a.m. on September 22, 2020. They told Ms. Ma and her husband that if she did not write the three statements, her pension would be stopped, and it would adversely impact their child’s job and salary. Later, they called her husband four more times to harass him.
Four or five officers from the Chaoyang Township Police Station broke into Mr. Zhang Yujiang’s home on November 9, 2020. They asked if he or his wife Ms. Ma Chunxia had put up Falun Gong informational banners on nearby country roads.
Mr. Gu Linsen and his wife Ms. Zhou Guibao, both in their 70s, from the Pudong New Area were arrested at home by officers from the Jinyang Police Station on October 30, 2020.
The officers took pictures of them. They gathered fingerprints, blood samples, and handwriting from the couple before taking them home in the early evening.
The head of Sanyuan Village went to the store of Mr. Wu Chenghua’s son, handed him a guarantee statement, and told him to give it to his father to sign. The village head went to Mr. Wu’s home and harassed him again that evening.
The Taoyuan Police Station and the Xiloubeili Residential Committee personnel harassed Ms. Liu Wenying five times in ten days during the “zero-out” campaign. The residential police officer and residential committee personal called and harassed her daughter on November 19.
Five people, including the residential police officer and staff members from the residential committee and the sub-district administration office, went to Ms. Liu’s home and harassed her around 7 p.m. on November 20.
Six people, including the residential police officer and staff members from the residential committee and the sub-district administration office, harassed Ms. Liu for one hour around 8 p.m. on November 25.
On the evening of November 27, eight people, including the director of the police station, the residential police officer, the director of the sub-district administration office, and the residential committee personnel, talked to Ms. Liu from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the next day. They harassed her for 6 hours.
Seven people, including the head of the Domestic Security Division and Hexi District government officials, talked to Ms. Liu on the evening of November 29. They took turns harassing her and threatened to go to her son-in-law’s employer to harass him.
They tried everything they could think of to get her to sign statements, which put a lot of pressure on her and her family.
Ms. Yu Guimei was arrested by over 20 officers from the Liaoyang County Domestic Security Division on November 6, 2020. Her Falun Dafa books were confiscated. She was taken to the Liaoyang Detention Center the following day. The detention center refused to admit her because she had high blood pressure. She has returned home.
