(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 27 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 73 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Lu Zheng received a written notice from the Huangpu Branch of Shanghai Social Insurance Management Center on November 27, 2020. The notice said that according to information provided by the judicial system, Ms. Lu had been sentenced to prison.
She was required to bring the verdict to the social security agency for verification within five working days. If she did not, her pension would be suspended.
Mr. Zhang Lixin and his wife Ms. Wu Guohua from Bairin Left Banner were arrested by officers from the Bairin Left Banner Domestic Security Division around 3 p.m. on November 26, 2020.
At around 10 a.m. that day, Mr. Zhang received a message from the headteacher at his 13-year-old child's school, asking him to pick up his child from school at 11 a.m. When he arrived at the school, he was intercepted by government officials and the police from Shisanaobao Town who were waiting for him. They pressured him to give up practicing Falun Gong. After he adamantly refused, they went to his home to take pictures and video. They rummaged through his things until nearly 3 p.m. They then called the Domestic Security officers to come to arrest him and his wife.
Mr. Guo Wen from Bairin Left Banner was arrested on the morning of November 27. He had been on his way to work out of town when he got a call that convinced him to turn around. Someone later pried open the door of his home and took away photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Four strangers broke into Ms. Zhang Yuanhang’s home in Daling Town, Lishu County, on the afternoon of November 27, 2020. One of them claimed to be from the Lishu County Police Department and told Ms. Zhang she had to go to the police station with them. Ms. Zhang told them the facts about Falun Gong, but they ignored her.
Seeing that they did not want to listen to her and intended to arrest her, she drove them out of her home.
On November 25, 2020, Ms. Liu Chunjing, Ms. He Guihua, and Mr. Han Hua from Daling Town were harassed by the local town government officials and village Party secretaries, who told them to go to Gongzhuling City to participate in a brainwashing session. The practitioners and their families did not cooperate.
Four police officers broke into the home of practitioner Rongzi (gender unknown) at around 8 p.m. on November 22, 2020. Rongzi was not at home. After entering the house, the officers looked in each room and told the family to tell Rongzi to go to the police station when Rongzi returned.
Several officers from the Xinfu Police Station in the Nanguan District went to Ms. Wang Jinlan’s home on November 26. Ms. Wang was not at home then. They told her family to tell her, when she got back, to go to the police station to sign the guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. They took her husband to the police station to sign paperwork.
Mr. Guo Yanxiang, 53, a teacher, from Shanghewan Town in the Jiutai District, was arrested at home by officers from the Jiutai District Domestic Security Division and the Shanghewan Police Station on November 16, 2020. The officers confiscated a computer, two printers, and 36,000 yuan in paper currency with Falun Gong information printed on the bills.
At the same time, the Shanghewan police also went to the homes of two other practitioners. One of them was taken to the Jiutai District for a physical exam. The practitioner failed the exam and was taken back home.
Seven or eight people from the Nanquan Town government and a village committee went to Mr. Zhu Chaobing’s home again and tried to force him to give up practicing Falun Gong on November 5, 2020.
Mr. Zhu was reported to the police on November 10 for talking to people about Falun Gong in Shigu Town. Seven or eight officers from the Shigu Town Police Station and the Nanquan Town Police Station arrived in two cars at Mr. Zhu’s home and ransacked the place. They confiscated two copies of Zhuan Falun, one Falun Dafa book, two Minghui desk calendars, and 12 keepsakes.
Ms. Peng Xueying, 75, was tried in the Pengshan District Court at 2:30 p.m. on November 18, 2020. She defended her innocence for over two hours. The trial adjourned without a verdict.
Recently, the Beicang Police Station in the Beichen District, the Comprehensive Management Office of Beicang Town, and the Neighborhood Committee of Yinhenanli have jointly persecuted and harassed Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhao Wenhai, Mr. Ge Dazang, Ms. Yang Shulu, Ms. Cong Peiying, and Ms. Gao Xiujie. People from these organizations pressured the practitioners to sign the guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong, took photos and videos of them, and threatened their families.
A residential officer from the Baoping Police Station, a staff member from the Baoping Sub-district, and the director of the Huayuandongqu Residential Community went to Mr. Liu Aibing’s home twice on the afternoon of November 25, 2020. They tried to pressure him to sign the three statements. Mr. Liu refused.
In the second half of 2020, members of the Wuqing District 610 Office and officials from Cuihuangkou Town and various villages harassed at least 25 Falun Gong practitioners.
In November, the town and village officials threatened practitioners with their children’s jobs, pressured most of the practitioners to sign and fingerprint the three statements, and videotaped them.
Officer Li Xu from the Dayingmen Police Station knocked on Ms. Zhou Hongli’s door again on the morning of November 15. She did not let him in. Later, Li told her to come to his office to have a talk. Li tried to coax her into “transforming,” by saying they could find a job for her child, an offer she firmly refused to accept.
Residential officer Yang He from Taoyuan Police Station, director Zhang Jianchun from the Yuanxingli Residential Committee, and other people went to Ms. Li Tingxiu’s home on November 13 and harassed her. They went to her home again on November 18. They told her son to sign paperwork and told her to give her fingerprints.
Yuexiu Road Police Station, Sub-district, and residential committee personnel went to Ms. Liu Zhenhuan’s home five times to harass her in recent days. The director of the police station instructed her family members to write materials on her behalf following police requirements. They went to her home again around 3 p.m. on November 19 to force her to sign paperwork.
Ms. Liu Cuiyun from West Coast Economy New Area was spotted, arrested, and taken to the Yinzhu Police Station by three plainclothes officers when she telling people the facts about Falun Gong and distributing truth-clarifying cards on November 6, 2020. One officer beat her viciously and demanded to know where the cards came from.
The officers ransacked her home that afternoon and confiscated two copies of Zhuan Falun and two weekly publications. She was to be placed in detention for 10 days but returned home after being held two nights in the police station.
Ms. Xuan Xiaomei was sentenced to two years in prison and Ms. Zhu Peiqin to six months in the Wujiang Court on July 22, 2020. Both appealed to the Suzhou City Intermediate Court, which upheld the original verdicts in recent days.
Director Dong and an officer from the Nanyan Police Station in the Nanpu Development Zone, Caofeidian District, went to the home of practitioner Li Xuedi (gender unknown) and asked if Li still practiced Falun Gong. Li answered yes, and they left.
They then went to Ms. Lu Jiping’s home and asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. She replied, “Is Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance good? Is it good to be a good person?” The officers asked her several times. She did not answer them directly, and they left.
Two people from the Wangwu Town government went to Ms. Liu Shurong’s home in October 2020 and told her to acknowledge that she’d stopped practicing Falun Gong, but she refused to.
The next day, the village Party secretary took a printed sheet to her son and told him to persuade his mother to make a statement that she would no longer practice Falun Gong, which he should videotape.
The Party secretary of Wangwu Town and a staff member of the town Party committee went to Ms. Chen Zhihui’s home and harassed her several times in October 2020. They wanted to videotape her and lied to her, saying, “Cooperate with us and say that you no longer practice Falun Gong. Then we can go back and report that we did our job, while you can practice as you wish at home.” She tried to clarify the truth to them, but they wouldn’t listen, so they videotaped her. She did not say anything.
The village Party secretary came to her home on November 17 and said, “The video made by the town Party secretary isn’t good enough. It would work if you said that you would not go to work in the fields.” She agreed and said that she would not go to the farm fields to work and would stay home to watch her child. The village secretary recorded it.
Wang Chunrong (gender unknown) from Fucheng County was arrested in a rented home by the Jing County police and held in the Hengshui City Detention Center.
Ms. Liu Shuan and her daughter Ms. Yang Jieling from Muxiangdian Village in Donghedian Town were followed and arrested by Shu Xinkuan, head of the Pingyu County Domestic Security Division, and other officers around October 20, 2020. It is not clear where they were held.
Li Xifeng (gender unknown) was arrested in late May 2020.
Mr. Guo Baojun from Houzhai Community, Houzhai Township, in the Erqi District, is being held in the Zhengzhou City No. 3 Detention Center.
Family visits are the third Saturday morning of each month, and only one immediate family member is allowed in by showing his or her national ID card.
As of November 27, 2020, no one is Mr. Guo’s family had seen him even once. Family members asked the security guards at the detention center gate several times, but they were denied entry. The guards said that they had to wait for a call, but the guards did not bother to ask anyone in the family for a phone number.
Mr. Guo was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan on June 29, 2020.
Mr. Wang Xinguo, 67, from Songbu Town, Macheng City, was arrested in Wuhan on September 5, 2019. He has been held in the Hanyang Detention Center for over a year, during which time his children were not allowed to visit him.
It was reported that he is almost completely blind in his left eye and he has severe hearing loss, high blood pressure, and heart disease. His family is worried about him.
Mr. Zhou Guoqing (pseudonym Meijing), who works at the Donghuxiyuan Property Management Office; Mr. Zhang Bo; Mr. Xiong Youyi; and Mr. Li Jun were arrested by officers from the Wuhan City 610 Office and the local police station on December 25, 2018.
It was reported that Mr. Zhou is being held in the Qingling Detention Center. The police recently arranged for him to have a comprehensive physical exam.
Over ten officers from the Qilihe Police Station broke into Mr. Zhang Zhaoqun’s home on the morning of November 25, 2020. Mr. Zhang was not at home.
Six officers went to his home that afternoon and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Dafa books and a laptop. They used his home phone to call him and told him to go to the police station.
Mr. Chen Dicai’s case was heard in the intermediate court. His first trial was held in the Xisaishan District Court. Because the three confessions [the procuratorate cited as evidence] were obtained via torture and beatings, Mr. Chen’s lawyers asked for the illegal evidence to be excluded. The judge agreed. When the three confessions were invalidated, the prosecutor was embarrassed.
In the detention center, Mr. Chen filed a complaint with the Commission for Discipline Inspection about the domestic security officers who beat and tortured him. The detention center officials have submitted Mr. Chen’s complaint.
Four people, including the secretary of the Jingyuan County Political and Legal Affairs Committee and staff members from the Wulanxilu Community in Wulan Town, went to Ms. Yue Wenfang’s home and told her to sign paperwork on October 20, 2020. She refused. They went to her home again a week later and pressured her to sign, which she again refused to do. They tried to take pictures of her, but she stopped them.
The Jingyuan County Political and Legal Affairs Committee personnel and the Jingyuan County police called her husband to pressure her to sign. As a result, she has been forced to leave home.
The Jingyuan County police station and community personnel showed up and harassed her family every day. Her family, including one who is 84 years old, is under tremendous stress.
Ms. Zhang Caixia was detained in the Zhangzhou City Detention Center for 10 days in August 2020. Two months after she returned home, she was told to write a guarantee statement saying that she’d stopped practicing Falun Gong. She was working out of town and flatly refused.
Since the police could not locate her, they suspended her husband from his job. Their two children were not allowed to go to school. Her family is in turmoil.
Mr. Deng Yulin, Ms. Zhang Limin, Mr. Zhang Pengzhu, and Ms. Yang Liwei were arrested on May 23, 2019. They were sentenced to prison on September 4, 2020.
They appealed to the Benxi City Intermediate Court, which upheld the original verdicts on November 17. Even though the lawyers had not yet submitted a defense opinion, the court—without notifying the lawyers—upheld the original judgment.
When the lawyers were reviewing their cases for the second trial, Xiong Tiening, deputy chief of the Benxi Intermediate Court, told them that there were too many cases now, and whether they submitted a defense opinion or not would not affect the court’s decision.
Ms. Wang Shujie accompanied her husband to Beijing to see a doctor. They arrived at the security checkpoint in Shenyang North Station around 9 p.m. on November 24, 2020. She was found carrying paper currency with Falun Gong information printed on the bills, Falun Dafa books, and an MP3 player. She was arrested and held in a detention center. Her home was ransacked the following day.
Ms. Yang, 76, from the Kunpeng Residential Community in the Huanggu District was intercepted by a young plainclothes officer when she was talking to people about Falun Gong. The officer took her rolling carrier with Falun Gong calendars in it and put it in the trunk of a white car. He took her to the Huanghe Street Police Station. Ms. Yang was not released until after 11 p.m. that night.
Mr. Li Shutao, a teacher at the Wanlong Township Central Primary School, received a call from Yang Yanwei, the Party secretary of Fendou Village, on November 24, 2020.
Yang wanted to videotape him and warned that if he refused, they would do it anyway. Yang then threatened him with punishment.
Mr. Ma Hongzhi, Ms. Wang Cui’e, and Ms. Sun Shuhua were harassed in mid-November 2020. Mr. Sun Shoulin was harassed earlier. They were pressured to sign or write statements “guaranteeing” that they had quit practicing Falun Gong. They all refused.
Practitioners Chuxu (gender unknown, from the Donghu Residential Community), Song Xiaobo (gender unknown, from the Ben’er Residential Community), and Zhang (gender underknown), and Ms. Yang Wei and her daughter from the Longfeng District were arrested on November 22, 2020.
Mr. Wang Kui and his wife Ms. Liu Shujuan were arrested by officers from the Wolitun Police Department on November 22. Their home was ransacked. The couple was released that evening.
Ms. Du Chunxiang’s daughter was harassed by officers from the Babaishang Police Department in the Honggang District and 610 Office heads Ran Zhonglin and Duan Zun of Daqing Drilling Engineering Technology Research Institute, where Ms. Du works.
At the end of October 2020, Duan asked Ms. Du’s daughter for a copy of her mother’s household registration and national ID card. Duan said that the police were making a return visit. Ran talked to Ms. Du’s daughter on November 6 and told her to sign a statement that she had “transformed” (given up Falun Dafa) on behalf of her mother. When Ms. Du learned about this from her daughter, she said “Do not sign anything.” Duan told the Party secretary where Ms. Du’s daughter worked to harass her on the afternoon of November 18.
Officers from the Gulong Town Police Station in Zhaoyuan County broke into Ms. Zhai Fengxian’s clinic, ransacked the place, and videotaped it in mid-November. They ordered her and her sister Ms. Zhai Fengjing to sign the three statements. The sisters did not cooperate and told them about Falun Gong. The officers took just a desk calendar.
The director of the Erzhan Town Police Station and officer Wen Donghai went to Ms. Sun Ling’s home on November 17. They pressured her to sign the three statements, but she refused to.
Around 10:30 a.m. on November 27, 2020, Fu Congzhi, head of the Jidong County Domestic Security Division, and other officers went to the home of Ms. Zhao Guiying, who is a retired teacher from Hongshaonian Primary School. They disabled the surveillance system in front of her building and were ready to pry open the door. Ms. Zhao’s family did not cooperate with them and refused to open the door.
Ms. Liu Xiumei from Yong’an Town was arrested by three officers from the Jidong County Police Department on the morning of November 25. She is being held in a detention center.
Mr. Li Baoxiang was arrested at home on November 26. His current situation is not known.
Ms. Zhang Zhijie was arrested downstairs in Mr. Li Baoxiang’s building on the afternoon of November 26.
People from the Dongwu Police Station and the Hengdamingyuan Community repeatedly went to Ms. Wang Xuqiu’s home to harass her. They also called and harassed her child, and ordered the child to sign paperwork. Ms. Wang’s child refused to comply.
