(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 13 provinces, where at least 50 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Wei on Hunger Strike
Ms. Zhang Wei was sentenced in April 2015 and is incarcerated in the Liaoning Women’s Prison. She has been mistreated in the prison because she persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises. She is on hunger strike and is very weak.
2. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Xie Chunmei and Ms. Liang Meihua Still Detained
Ms. Xie Chunmei (56), Ms. Liang Meihua (72) and Ms. Xiong Quanmei (70) were studying the Fa together in Ms. Xie Chunmei’s home on the evening of July 17, 2020, when Xihu District police broke in and arrested them. Their homes were ransacked.
Two computers, a cutting and binding machine, and 10,000 yuan were confiscated from Ms. Xie Chunmei’s home. A computer and Falun Dafa books were confiscated from Ms. Xiong Quanmei’s home, and a computer was confiscated from Ms. Liang Meihua’s home.
Ms. Xie and Ms. Liang are still being held in the Nanchang No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Xie was divorced a long time ago and has been staying with her mother. Her mother is in urgent need of her care.
3. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Deng Guiying and Ms. Wan Lihua Taken to Prison
Ms. Deng Guiying (66) was arrested at home on September 20, 2019, by officers from the Sandian Police Station and the Qingyunpu District Domestic Security Division. She was held in the No. 1 Detention Center in Nanchang. Ms. Deng was sentenced to three years in prison and was taken to the Jiangxi Women’s Prison.
Ms. Wan Lihua (over 50 years old) was arrested at Nanchang University on the morning of September 24, 2019. Her home was ransacked. She was held in the Nanchang No.1 Detention Center and sentenced to three and a half years in prison in mid-August 2020. Ms. Wan filed an appeal but the verdict was upheld. She was taken to the Jiangxi Women’s Prison.
4. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhao Lin Tried in Court
Mr. Zhao Li was tried in the Qiaoxi Court at 10:00 a.m. on October 13, 2020. He arrived at the court in a police car at around 9:30 am wearing a protective suit and goggles with no skin exposed, presumably because of the conoravirus.
His family members and friends couldn’t see him clearly. The police officers who escorted him weren't wearing face masks.
5. [Shifang City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed
Ms. Linghu Dayong (68), Mr. Gong Xueliang (83) and his wife Ms. Wang Zhongqiong (80) were harassed at home in September 2020.
6. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Du Baozhi Arrested and Released the Same Day, Her Son Wang Wei Detained
Ms. Du Baozhi was arrested by Laiyuan County police on October 6, 2020, for distributing copies of Minghui Weekly. Her son Mr. Wang Wei, also a practitioner, went to the police department to request her release and was arrested.
Ms. Du was released later that night. Mr. Wang was given a 7-day detention, and forced to pay 2000 yuan before being released on October 12.
7. [Heze City, Shandong Province] Ms. Meng Qingfang Detained More Than a Year
Ms. Meng Qingfang (over 50 years old) was arrested on October 4, 2019, for talking to people about Falun Gong while visiting her daughter. Her home was ransacked. She has been held in the Xiguan Women's Detention Center in Heze City for more than a year. Her lawyer and family members have not been allowed to visit her. Her situation is unknown.
8. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gang Fengqing Harassed
Personnel from the Jianhua Community went to harass Ms. Gang Fengqing with the excuse of rechecking her household status on October 20, 2020. They took photographs of her.
9. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Rongju and Ms. Zhou Fenglan Harassed
Ms. Zhang Rongju was harassed at home on October 15, 2020, by director of the Huishan Street Office Chen, local community personnel Xu Jing, and retired police officer Su Qing from the Huishan Police Station. They demanded that Ms. Zhang write a guarantee statement promising not to practice Falun Gong. When she refused, they forced her daughter to write it and forcefully held Ms. Zhang's hands to press her fingerprint on paper.
Ms. Zhou Fenglan was harassed on the same day.
10. [Beijing] Ms Chang Shurong Tried in Court
Ms. Chang Shurong has been held in the Fangshan District Detention Center for over half a year. She had a hearing in Fangshan Court on October 15, 2020.
11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms.Tan Guiling Detained
Ms. Tan Guling was arrested at home by officers from the Xincheng Police Station on September 22, 2020. They ransacked the place, and confiscated a computer, cell phone, photo of Falun Gong's founder, Falun Dafa books and other personal belongings. Ms. Tan was taken to the detention house for 15 days, and released on October 8.
12. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Guixiang Arrested
Ms. Zhang Guixiang from Huxi Garden in the Light Rail Lake area was arrested by over 10 officers from the Chuncheng Police Station in the Lvyuan District at around 6:00 a.m. on October 20, 2020. Her home was ransacked.
13. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Gong Yiping Arrested and Released
Mr. Gong Yiping was arrested at home by officers from the Haihe Police Station in the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone in late September 2020. His home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and truth clarification materials were confiscated. He was released later that day.
14. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Ping Detained
Ms. Wang Ping from Tongbai County was arrested at home on October 1, 2020. She was taken to the Nanyang Detention Center.
15. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Chunlian Arrested and Released
Elderly Ms. Zhu Chunlian from the Qingshan District was arrested by police officers and Zhang Zujun from the Qingshan 610 Office. She was taken to the Yejin Street Police Station.
The officers searched her and confiscated the truth-clarification materials and cash she had on her. They forced her to sign a document.
Ms. Zhu was released at around 5:00 p.m., and told to return to the police station on October 20 to collect her belongings.
16. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yao Shu'e’s Home Ransacked
The head of Suishan Town Police Station Luo, officer Gao Feng, and three others went to Ms. Yao Shu’e’s home on September 8, 2020, and ransacked the place. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, a photo of Falun Gong's founder, and 340 yuan in bills with messages about Falun Gong on them.
Ms. Yao and her son were called to the police station on October 9. They were interrogated and told to sign the interview transcript. Ms. Yao was called to the procuratorate on October 9 for questioning.
17. [Huaibin County, Henan Province] Ms. Sun Xingxia and Her Husband Detained
Officers from the Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Sun Xingxia’s home in Gudui Township. They arrested her husband, who is also a practitioner, and confiscated two Falun Dafa books. Her husband is being detained for 15 days.
Ms. Sun was arrested at home on the afternoon of October 15. She is being detained for 10 days.
18. [Zhalantun City, Inner Mongolia] Seven Practitioners Harassed
Ms. Zhang Fenglan was held in custody by the railway police in Zhalantun City when she was on the way back from her daughter’s home in Dalian City. Her electronic reading device was confiscated, and her pension was later suspended.
Mr. Wei Yuhai was harassed by Xu Lianchen from the Zhalantun 610 Office and agents from the local community in September and October 2020.
Ms. Rong Fengshan and Ms. Lu Wenting received harassing phone calls. Ms. Wang Zengyu, Ms. Wang Qingzhen, and Ms. Han Yazhi were also harassed.
19. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yu Chunmei Detained
Ms. Yu Chunmei was arrested by officers from the Baiyun Police Station on the afternoon of October 8, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. Truth-clarification materials and a photo of Falun Gong's founder were confiscated.
Ms. Yu is being held in the Wafangdian isolation unit in Dalian Detention Center.
20. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Guohua Facing Trial
Mr. Wang Guohua from the Xindu District is scheduled to have a hearing in the No.1 courtroom of Xindu Court at 3:30 p.m. on October 22, 2020.
21. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Wang Shuicheng's Case Passed to Court, Ms. Li Zhendi's Cases Passed to Procuratorate
The Chikan District Procuratorate passed Mr. Wang Shuicheng’s case to the Zhanjiang City Intermediate Court in the early October 2020.
Ms. Li Zhendi's case has been filed with the Chikan Procuratorate.
22. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Duan Cuiying Arrested
Ms. Duan Cuiying from Ganjingzi was arrested by officers from the Jiaojinshan Police Station on October 13, 2020, for distributing truth clarification materials. She was told that this would normally warrant a 10-day detention. However, since she was at the advanced age of 70, she would be placed under house arrest instead.
After having her photo and fingerprints taken and her voice recorded, she was allowed to go home at around 4:00 pm.
23. [Mei County, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Qiongzhao and Ms. Li Xiufang Arrested
Ms. Li Qiongzhao and her husband were arrested on October 19, 2002, by officers from the Chengjiang Police Station and the Mei County Police Department. She is being detained in either the Mei Detention Center or Detention House.
Ms. Li Xiufang was arrested at home by officer Lin Li from the domestic security division and other police officers.
24. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Jing Jianqiu and Ms. Zhou Xiyun Arrested
Ms. Jing Jianqiu and Ms. Zhou Xiyun from the Shangjie District were arrested by officers from the Xingyang Guangwu Police Station.
25. [Zhouqu County, Gansu Province] Nine Practitioners Harassed
Many practitioners have been harassed by various government departments since April 2020, including the Domestic Security Division, the Politic and Legal Affairs Committee, the discipline committee, police stations, etc.
Those known to have been harassed including Mr. Feng Jianzhou, Mr. Yang Zongcheng, Mr. Ren Zhixue, Mr. Chen Xingquan, Mr. Zhao Yongcai, Mr. Li Wenbin, Mr. Yang Jiuhe, Ms. Yin Chengxian, and Ms. Zhang Sufang.
A “Transforming Team” was set up to carry out the so-called “zero-out” campaign. They went to each practitioner’s home and demanded that they sign guarantee statements to renounce Falun Gong. They threatened the practitioners with expulsion from public office, and blocking their children from taking college entrance exams, joining the military, or making it difficult for them to get a job.
26. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Liu Chunqin Facing Trial
The Lusong District Procuratorate passed Ms. Liu Chunqin’s case to the Lusong Court. She is facing trial in late October 2020.
