(Minghui.org) A 65-year-old woman in Harbin City was arrested again for her faith after having been detained for almost 15 years in the past.
Ms. Wu Lijun, a retiree of Dongli District Bearings Company, credits Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, for curing her elephantiasis and saving her leg from amputation. She never wavered in her faith after the Chinese communist regime started its persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999.
Ms. Wu was first arrested in January 2000 and given one year of forced labor for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Her son, who was a high school senior, was warned that he would not be allowed to sit in the college entrance exam because of his mother's faith. His father had no alternative but to divorce his mother. Only then was he allowed to take the college entrance exam.
Ms. Wu was arrested a second time in April 2001 and later sentenced to nine years in prison. She was brutally tortured and injected with psychotropic drugs during her imprisonment.
Ms. Wu's third arrest took place on April 18, 2013. She was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, just 18 days before her son's wedding.
Ms. Wu's ordeal didn't end after she was released on October 17, 2017. She was arrested at Harbin Train Station on June 30, 2018, after police discovered Falun Gong books in her bag. They confiscated the books and her cell phone and ransacked her home hours later.
Ms. Wu was given 15 days of administrative detention, which was later changed to criminal detention.
Ms. Wu is currently held at Harbin Second Detention Center.
