Additional Persecution News from China – August 11, 2018 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces. According to this report, 6 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 were illegally arrested.

Mr. Pei Shangyou was arrested on August 6, 2018, and was taken to the Weizigou Detention Center for 15 days of detention

2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Xiupei Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Xiupei from the Tiexi District was arrested by officers from the Dugong Street Police Station on the evening of September 5, 2015, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Shenyang City Detention Center.

Ms. Li was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term by the Tiexi Court in early May 2017. She is being held in the No. 7 Ward of Liaoning Province Women's Prison.

3. [Xianghe County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Xiuqin Detained

Ms. Li Xiuqin was arrested at her home by officers from the Xianghe County Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, and SWAT Team on the morning of August 3, 2018. She was taken to the Sanhe Detention Center.

4. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Yuansheng Taken to Prison

Mr. Wang Yuansheng from the Jizhou District was taken to the No. 3 Ward of Jidong No. 7 Prison.

5. [Dingzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Gu Minglong Arrested

Mr. Gu Minglong was arrested by officers from the Gaopeng Town Police Station on the morning of July 18, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Niudian Village, Gaopeng. He was taken to the Dingzhou City Detention Center.

Mr. Gu's family received an arrest notice from the police station on August 3.

6. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Guihua Arrested

Ms. Ma Guihua was arrested by officers from the 610 Office on August 7, 2018, for talking to people about Falun Gong near the Yangchun area.

7. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Taixiang Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Jiang Taixiang, from Hangezhuang Village, Jiaolai Town, was recently sentenced to a three-year prison term and fined 10,000 yuan.

8. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Du Zhaocai and His Wife Ms. Wu Ruifang Detained

Mr. Du Zhaocai and his wife Ms. Wu Ruifang from Jiaolai Town were arrested by officers from the Jiaolai Police Station on the morning of August 8, 2018. The officers ransacked their home and confiscated Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and several printers and computers.

The couple was taken to the Pudong Detention Center.

9. [Linzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Feng Youfu Sentenced to a Three-Year Prison Term

Mr. Feng Youfu was arrested in April 2016 for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party, for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. He was secretly sentenced to three years in prison. He appealed, and the Anyang Intermediate Court returned the case back to the court stating “insufficient evidence.”

Mr. Feng was kept in a detention center.

The Linzhou Court sentenced Mr. Feng to three years in prison in 2018. He appealed again, but this time the Anyang Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict in late July.

Mr. Feng was taken to the Zhengzhou Prison at the end of July.

10. [Yichun City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Wu Yuanxiong's Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Wu Yuanxiong, 50, the deputy president of the Xinjian Cancer Hospital, went to his hometown in Wuhan City, Hubei Province on July 10, 2018. He was arrested by Wuhan police on the afternoon of July 12. His whereabouts are unknown.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Cheng Chunzhen and Ms. Wang Xinli Arrested

Ms. Cheng Chunzhen and Ms. Wang Xinli were reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from the Guandong Police Station on the evening of August 5, 2018.

Ms. Cheng was released that night because she had high blood pressure, while Ms. Wang was taken to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center for 15 days of detention.

12. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Hu Yating Arrested

Ms. Hu Yating, who is originally from Hunan Province, was arrested by the Shunde District police in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, on August 8, 2018.

Ms. Hu had been arrested several times since 2006. She was detained for 15 days, and sentenced to forced labor for one year.

She was twice sentenced to prison. Once, for three years, and a second time for two years and six months.
