Additional Persecution News from China – May 1, 2018 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 9 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 were illegally arrested.

1. [Cifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Yang Cuiling, Ms. Wang Yanxin, and Ms. Yue Shuxia from the Yuanbaoshan District were arrested by officers from the Harqin Police Department's Domestic Security Division on November 5, 2017.

The three practitioners were taken to the Jinshan Detention Center in Harqin, and were tried in the Harqin Court on the afternoon of March 27, 2018.

Ms. Yang was sentenced to a four-year prison term.Ms. Yue was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term.Ms. Wang was sentenced to a three-year prison term.

Ms. Zhao Xiang from Yilan County was arrested at the Hulun Buir Railroad Station on April 21, 2018. She was taken to the Zhi'an Detention Center in Harbin City.

5. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Shulan Taken to Prison

Ms. Wang Shulan was arrested by officers from the Lianwan Police Station in the Longgang District on July 22, 2017. The Longgang Court tried her on January 16, 2018, and sentenced her to four years in prison and fined her 5,000 yuan on January 24.

Ms. Wang appealed, but Zhan Yachen from the Huludao City Intermediate Court rejected her appeal. Ms. Wang was taken to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison on March 24, 2018.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Xiyong Arrested

Mr. Liu Xiyong was arrested by officers from the Paotai Police Station in Jinpu New District on March 18, 2018, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Mr. Liu was taken to a detention center, but the authorities there refused to accept him because he had high blood pressure.

Mr. Zhang Jian and Mr. Cai from the Haidian District were arrested at their homes on April 23, 2018. They were taken to the Haidian Police Department Detention Center.

Ms. Chang Xiujie from Hanjialin Village was arrested by officers from the Funing District Domestic Security Division on April 25, 2018. She was detained for ten days.

9. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Yanyan's Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Xu Yanyan, 41, from Zhangcun Town, was arrested by officers from the Shuangdao Boarder Security Police Station on March 28, 2018. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her printer, computer, Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, and other personal belongings.

Ms. Xu's whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Zhang Jing was arrested by officers from the Cangshan Police Department.

11. [Tianmen City, Hubei Province] Ms. Jin Qiong'er Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Jin Qiong'er was arrested in mid-September, 2017, and taken to the Tianmen City No. 1 Detention Center. She was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term on April 28, 2018.

12. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xia Huanzhen Detained

Ms. Xia Huanzhen was arrested on April 25, 2018, and taken to the Erzigou Women's Detention Center in Dongxi Lake. Her home was ransacked.

13. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Mr. Peng Shiqing Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Peng Shiqing was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan by the Yuetang District Court.

Ms. Zeng Yuezhi, Ms. Peng Xuerong, and Ms. He Yuqing from Jintang County were arrested in the Juyuan Market, Zhao Town in Jintang, on April 17, 2018.
