(Minghui.org) A Yuhuan County resident was sentenced to prison for a second time for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Mr. Lin Yihua was last arrested in August 2016 and sentenced to 2.5 years in prison on September 1, 2017 without his lawyer's knowledge. The local procuratorate tried to stop him from filing an appeal by promising to reduce his sentence. Mr. Lin refused.
The local Shujiang Intermediate Court held a hearing on November 10, and this time Mr. Lin's lawyer was allowed to defend his constitutional right to freedom of belief. The higher court judge adjourned the session without issuing a verdict. He promised to communicate with the lawyer in writing should he reach any decision in the appeal case.
Mr. Lin's mother recently went to Yuhuan Detention Center and was shocked to learn that her son has been transferred away. No one, however, told her which prison her son was sent to, and it took her much effort to find out that he is being held at Shiliping Second Prison, the same place where he was imprisoned from 2007 to 2015 for practicing Falun Gong.
At the time of writing, Mr. Lin’s lawyer hasn’t received a written notice from the appeals court judge.
