(Minghui.org) A county-level procuratorate in Yunnan Province declined to charge a resident in neighboring Sichuan Province due to lack of evidence. This may be a sign that the severity of the persecution of Falun Gong in this area is becoming less.
Ms. Shi Dexian is a native of Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province. She went to neighboring Huaping County, Yunnan Province on May 12, 2016 to post informational materials about Falun Gong, a mind-body practice being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The Huaping County police arrested her five months later and sent her to Huaping County Detention Center. She was released on bail on October 25, 2016.
The Huaping County police submitted her case to Huaping County Procuratorate on July 24, 2017, but the procuratorate twice returned the case, on September 7 and November 6, respectively.
The Huaping County police refused to release Ms. Shi and submitted her case a third time. The Huaping County Procuratorate transferred the case to the Yulong County Procuratorate on December 4.
The new procuratorate ruled recently that there was insufficient evidence to charge Ms. Shi, who was given a formal notice on January 18, 2018.
