(Minghui.org) A woman detained for her faith recently filed complaints against two police officers and two prosecutors for dereliction of duty.
Ms. Huang Xiaofen, a resident of Chenzhou City, was resting at home on April 11, 2017 when more than two dozen officers broke in and arrested her.
Police targeted Ms. Huang because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. Liu Jingsong, deputy head of Beihu District Domestic Security Office, led the arrest. His officers turned Ms. Huang’s home upside down without showing a search warrant.
Ms. Huang was also not allowed to be present when the police made an inventory of confiscated items. Her family wasn’t informed of her arrest and didn’t find out what happened until two days later. They were also shocked to learn that she had been given 12 days of detention when they went to the local detention center to deliver clothes to her.
Ms. Huang wasn’t released after 12 days. Instead, police placed her on criminal detention, and they repeatedly rejected her request for bail.
Ms. Huang entrusted her lawyer to file a complaint against police on April 26. She accused them of violating legal procedure in arresting and detaining her.
Liu and his supervisor, Bian Lichuan (head of Beihu District Domestic Security Office), submitted the items confiscated from Ms. Huang’s home to Beihu District Procuratorate on May 19. Ms. Huang was issued a formal arrest warrant one week later.
Ms. Huang filed a second complaint on June 2, this time targeting Bian, Liu, Tang Xiaobi and Liu Jihong – the latter two being the prosecutors issuing the arrest warrant.
Ms. Huang’s lawyer said that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong and that his client was merely exercising her constitutional right to freedom of belief. The four accused, however, broke the law in their arrest and prosecution of Ms. Huang.
Ms. Huang demanded in her complaints that she be released unconditionally and her confiscated property be returned to her.
