(Minghui.org) A resident of Chengdu, Sichuan Province was released on August 11, 2017 after a local court withdrew its guilty verdict against him.
Mr. Su Qinghua was arrested on September 2, 2015 for spray-painting messages about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. The next day, he was sent to Pi County Detention Center, where he remained until his release. His family didn’t find out his arrest until more than a month later.
Mr. Su was tried on December 29, 2016 and soon sentenced to three years in prison. He immediately filed an appeal and saw his sentence rescinded eight months later.
Mr. Su revealed to his family what he went through during his nearly two years of detention.
He was shackled and handcuffed for the first 67 days at the detention center. He went on hunger strikes four times in protest. The guards sent him to a hospital, where they had doctors force-feed him and draw his blood. They also kept beating him, causing severe injuries to his head.
Mr. Su was subjected to an hour-long torture session on April 21, 2016. He kept shouting, “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” About 500 inmates witnessed the process, which prompted the guards to gag Mr. Su with a dirty rag.
For the next few days, Mr. Su was allowed only two hours of sleep every night. One night, more than 16 inmates lifted him up by his handcuffs and shackles, causing him excruciating pain.
Mr. Su was moved to different cells a total of six times. Wherever he went, he never stopped talking to people about the illegal persecution of Falun Gong and other crimes committed by the Chinese Communist Party. A total of 112 inmates agreed to quit the Party during his time there.
