(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Pei Shumei was arrested by two plainclothes police officers at Laodong Park in Changchun City in April 2017. She is now being held at the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center and is on a hunger strike to protest her illegal arrest. Her lawyer was twice denied access to her case file by the Procuratorate.
Ms. Pei was talking with an elderly person in Laodong Park in Changchun City when officers from the Erdao District Domestic Security Division arrested her. The police did not present any identification. Subsequently, Domestic Security Division captain, Sun Runxian led the police to her home and ransacked it. They again failed to show any identification and did not provide a list of items seized.
Ms. Pei's family complained to the city and provincial supervising organizations about the illegal actions of the police. The police chief personally criticized Sun Runxian for his behavior.
Sun Runxian then submitted Ms. Pei's file to the Erdao District Procuratorate. Ms. Pei, together with a few other practitioners, began a hunger strike in protest. She has not eaten anything for seven days.
Ms. Pei's lawyer went to the Procuratorate to study her file, but the staff were uncooperative. Only after the family threatened to sue the related staff, was the lawyer allowed to read the file.
