(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Yougui was arrested by police from the Huichuan District in Zunyi City on May 8, 2017, while visiting her daughter.
Ms. Peng was arrested for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted in China, and for refusing to give up her faith. Prior to this arrest, Ms. Peng was sentenced twice to forced labor, twice detained, and once taken to a brainwashing center. The police frequently harassed her and ransacked her home.
After her recent arrest, she was taken to the Second Detention Center in Zunyi City. Her case was forwarded to the Huichuan District Procuratorate and the arrest became official on May 18th.
Ms. Peng's family hired a lawyer to represent her. The lawyer demanded that the procuratorate dismiss the case, because the police fabricated the evidence. The lawyer visited her twice in the detention center.
Ms. Peng has been harassed since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. The authorities ransacked her home in June and July 2000 and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other materials. She was detained for 15 days in September 2000.
She was held in the Guizhou Woman's Forced Labor Camp for a year in 2008, during which she had to do slave labor for more than 10 hours a day. She had to embroider beads under a dim light, and her eyesight deteriorated.
The police broke into her home in August 2012 and took her to the Banshan Brainwashing Center. She was then taken to the Guizhou Woman's Forced Labor Camp for a year. In the camp and brainwashing center, she had to watch videos and read books defaming Falun Gong. She also had to write reports slandering her belief.
In March 2015 the police detained her for seven days.
Ms. Peng became a Falun Gong practitioner in September 1996. Her herniated disc recovered within a short time, and she stopped gambling and cursing. Falun Gong brought peace to her family.
