(Minghui.org) Ms. Hou Chengxiang of Qingdao City was arrested for handing out pamphlets about the persecution of Falun Gong at a market on October 6, 2015. She was illegally detained for more than a year. Ms. Hou describes the torture she endured in Pudong Detention Center.
I was detained in Changjiang Road Police Station and slept on the cold floor overnight on October 6. Police officers took me to a hospital at Pudong Detention Center the next day.
I was forced to have a complete physical exam. They then drew my blood and measured my blood pressure.
To make sure the detention center would accept me, they repeatedly force-fed me drugs to lower my blood pressure.
Once my blood pressure dropped to 170, they took a picture of me and drove me to the ward area where practitioners and other prisoners were being detained. I tried to explain the truth about Falun Gong to my captors.
The next day, guards carried me by force to the hospital, where they infused me with four bottles of fluid because I was on a hunger strike to protest the arrest. This went on for eight days.
On the seventh day, they also started to force-feed me and take my blood pressure. The torture lasted until October 21.
I was moved to another cell on October 20. Several inmates dragged me to the restroom, stripped off my clothes, and doused me with water from my head down. I could not breathe and almost passed out.
My weight dropped from 165 to 100 pounds. I also lost five teeth from resisting the force-feeding. I felt very weak and had trouble walking. I had to be carried to my trial. My appearance changed so much that even my son could not recognize me during the second trial and broke down in tears.
I was illegally sentenced to one year and six months on March 27, 2017, and was released on April 17. I went to the police station to have my cell phone, watch, cash, and other confiscated personal belongings returned the next day, but the police refused my request with the excuse that I was still out on bail.
