(Minghui.org) The police in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, have been “Knocking on [the] Doors” of Falun Gong practitioners since June.
Police officers and neighborhood residential committee members “visit” Falun Gong practitioners, demand to know if they still practice Falun Gong, and order them to renounce the practice. They also try to take photos of themselves with the practitioner, claiming that they’ve been ordered to show the photo as evidence that they indeed went to the practitioner’s home.
The “Knocking on Doors” campaign, a nationwide directive targeting Falun Gong practitioners, started in April 2017. The Chinese government banned the practice in July 1999. It has collected the names of Falun Gong practitioners and visited their homes periodically, pressuring them to give up Falun Gong or arresting them and ransacking their homes.
Practitioner Ms. Zhou Xinyuan was called and visited by someone from Hunan University, where she works, on June 7. A police officer from the Yuelu District went to her home again on June 19. She refused to let him in or to let him take a photo.
Police from the Yuelu District and a social worker went to Ms. Zhou Weiqun's home on June 9 and asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. She said that she did and told them that she had never been sick or taken any medicine in the 20 years since she began practicing Falun Gong. The police officer sat down next to her and took a picture, claiming he needed to submit a photo to his superiors.
Police from the Tianxi District and two social workers went to Mr. Yang Jun's home on June 14.
When Yuhua District police knocked on Ms. Peng Yuexiang's door, she refused to let them in.
Police from Changsha County visited several practitioners' homes to harass them on June 18.
