(Minghui.org) A local procuratorate in Jinchang City recently withdrew its indictment against Ms. Zhu Lanxiu, who was charged with spreading information about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Zhu, 62, was arrested together with Ms. Li Yuzhen, in her late 60s, while the two were handing out calendars bearing messages about Falun Gong on December 9, 2016.
Officers from Xinhualu Police Station confiscated the two women’s bags and bicycles, and informed the Jinchang Domestic Security Office of the arrests. Hours later, Li Xinhua arrived to interrogate Ms. Zhu and Ms. Li.
Agent Li then led six officers to ransack Ms. Zhu’s home at around 11 that night. They didn’t find any Falun Gong materials and questioned Ms. Zhu’s husband if any local practitioners had told him of their plans to raid his home. He said no and also refused to curse the founder of Falun Gong. The officers searched every corner of the home a few more times before they finally left after midnight.
Ms. Zhu and Ms. Li were taken to a local hospital in the evening of December 10 to undergo a medical evaluation and have their blood drawn. They were released on bail afterwards.
Yang Yanjun and a few other officers from the Jinchang Domestic Security Office harassed Ms. Zhu and Ms. Li at home four times between May 15 and 17, 2017. The two practitioners firmly denied that they had committed any crime by distributing Falun Gong materials, as no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhu’s family received a phone call from the procuratorate on June 20, saying that they’ve withdrawn their indictment against her. It’s unclear whether they also dropped the charges against Ms. Li.
